~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

FIVE days!!!!!!!

:dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

How cool is that?? :yay:

So, in this update, let's review my transportation plans...

I leave on Friday evening from Jackson. I fly BACKWARDS to Houston. :confused3 And then to Orlando. I won't get there till 11:30.

The plan is for Sharon to pick me up from the airport. If she is running late, then I will catch the Magical Express. I am only bringing a carryon since I have a washer and dryer. I am already worried that I will be spoiled by this DVC room... :rolleyes1

Of course, Sharon will have her car during the week, if we prefer to take a car vs the bus.

Since Sharon is not leaving until Noon or so on Wednesday, we decided she can drop me off at the airport, which will save me from getting a towncar or anything.

So...there you have it! I am excited folks!!!!!

glad you are feeling better I missed that you were sick

I am trying not to get to worried about J we meet with his immune dr a few days after we get back so I will be bring up the H1N1 stuff

Are you guys taking lots of precautions while you are there so you don't bring it home?

We are planning to bring bleach wipes (Sharon's idea, she is a teacher) and lots of hand sanitizer to use while we are at the parks.

And I plan to stay away from both Lauren and Rachel for a few days after I get back. Just to be sure. Since I am flying and will be around lots and lots of people.

But we have lots of cases around here, so we are trying to take those precautions at home, too.

It isn't too bad here yet. Just a few cases here and there.

Well....I think she calls it that because I call it that!

It will always, always be the electrical parade to me! :) That is one thing from my childhood trips I do remember!

Thanks for the compliments! I really like that podcast and they are really nice guys. It will be fun to meet them and hang out in December!

Well then Lauren is excused but you young lady. . .:scared1: ;);) Spectromagic is not the same thing as the Main Street Electrical Parade. I'm going to tell Scopa and Mongello on you! I've got to start listening to podcasts - you 'll have to clue me in on the best ones.

I have not been on the DIS much this weekend...busy weekend and busy week ahead - PLUS I am leaving for Disney in FIVE days!!!!!!

I owe you guys a Magic Meets TR AND a Sept TR when I get back! Behind and I have not even left yet. :rotfl:

My DIS time has definitely been down too. I've been subscribed to TK's TR and PTR and That's Nice's PTR and haven't had time to read any of them. I am struggling to keep up with the ones I've been active on for awhile. And I want to start my own PTR before my trip is here already. :lmao:

You better get writing on those TR's as soon as that plane lands! ;)

Ok...I totally had to look this up! Because I was thinking...the ONE thing I remember from Disney World when I was a kid and I remember it wrong? Uh oh!

The current Electrical Parade IS the Electrical Water Pagent, which has run since 1971. But there was a "Main Street Electrical Parade" that ran from 1977 to 1991. ;) I am very thankful there is such a thing...I thought I was crazy. :rotfl:

That would have been funny if you had remembered it wrong. I try to block out the Electrical Water Pageant.

FIVE days!!!!!!!

That stinks about the backwards flight! It will be great to be able to pack light and to have a car if you want it. :cheer2: 5 Days :cheer2:

5 DAYS!!

Ummm, please don't get tooooo spoiled with that DVC of yours!!! ;)

Backwards??!! What is WITH that?? YOu're going to start off so tired arrving at 11:30! (that's PM, right?) You won't be in bed before 1 AM! :scared1:

You aren't crazy!! The Main Street El. Parade is THE single most fond memory I have of my growing up years at Disney! I still cry when the music for it comes up on my IPod!! :cloud9: Ah, happy memories!

I think you'll be very, very happy you have Sharon's car!

I can't believe how close your trip is!

I'm so excited for you. I can't wait to hear all about it, and a DVC stay to boot! :goodvibes

What is up with Southwest and flying backwards? I have been looking at flights for a possible trip in November. I fly out of New Orleans and yet they want me to fly to Houston or Atlanta and then Orlando. :confused3 Hello both are in the wrong direction. (or even to DC first which is really crazy)
Thankfully there are a couple nonstop flights, which I will be on one of them. (hopefully)

Getting close. :cool1: Do you drive coworkers nuts the week before you leave? I know I do. They just don't get it. :upsidedow

Time for a little dancing....:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

I hate flying backwards and so do the pilots... they usually can't see as well. ;)

I think Mongello would be proud I knew a little Disney history... :rotfl:

Podcasts that are good....In ALPHA order...as to not offend anyone....

All About the Mouse www.allaboutthemouse.com This is a great one! Usually long. They play good games. Have great interviews.

Be Our Guest www.beourguestpodcast.com This one is more informal.

DIS Unplugged www.disboards.com Usually a long podcast and lots of banter back and forth. Very fun to listen to - more editorial in nature than just news and info.

WDW Radio Show (I think this is the name of it?) Lou Mongello He gets a lot of podcasting awards each year. He is into the history of Disney and his podcasts are long and very detailed. Not for the faint of Disney heart!

WDW Today www.wdwtoday.com These are SHORT podcasts - usually less than 30 minutes and chock full of information.

My DIS time has definitely been down too. I've been subscribed to TK's TR and PTR and That's Nice's PTR and haven't had time to read any of them. I am struggling to keep up with the ones I've been active on for awhile. And I want to start my own PTR before my trip is here already. :lmao:

Ah! Please let us know when you start this!!

You better get writing on those TR's as soon as that plane lands! ;)

I have actually started the writing for the Magic Meets one...I just don't want to start it until I am a few days ahead of myself...in case I get busy.... if that makes sense.

Who, me? :cloud9: Yeah...next Sept we are going to end up in a DVC resort if I am not careful!

Backwards??!! What is WITH that?? YOu're going to start off so tired arrving at 11:30! (that's PM, right?) You won't be in bed before 1 AM! :scared1:

You know what they say...I have never seen a plane back into a mountain!

I've been gone all weekend so I need to multi-quote to catch up on your PTR Maroo!

Hi All,

Here's the scoop.... maroo is pretty darn sick!! In fact, she saw the doc. yesterday, and not only does she have a fever and abdom. pain, she has an elevated white count. She have another test tom. and if the levels are still high or higher, they will look more closely at what's going on.

The upshot is that she has really become "blah" (her own words) and unmotived about her trip!! :scared1: She says she doesn't want to go if she is feeling this bad.

Please pray for her!! She HAS to go to work tomorrow or she says she won't be able to go to WDW in Dec. with Rachel!!

Please, Lord, heal Mary!!!!

So sorry you were so incredibly sick. What a bummer to be "blah" about Disney - so unlike you!

You guys are so sweet. Thank you for all of your well wishes! I am truly sorry I made any of you guys worry.

I am feeling pretty bad. Actually, I woke up feeling better this morning, but less than an hour or so after being up and walking around, I already feel crappy. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

I really am bummed about my trip. I have not felt well for days...started last Saturday. Just tired - feeling run down. (Probably am run down.) But yesterday it got worse. I have no idea what is wrong at this point. :( Kidney stone? Appendicitis? Just the stomach bug. Don't worry, no flu like symptoms!

Rachel is MUCH, MUCH better and basically back to herself! We believe, because of this "comeback" that it was probably the sodium levels that caused the illness. She has had some progression of her lung disease that comes with the genetic condition she has, but overall is doing much better than we ever expected.

Matt0126 is actually a MOM of one of our wish kids. One of her sons is named Matt! I just figured you guys would wonder and then thought I would mess with you guys a little bit. I will get to meet her when I am in Disney, which will be beyond cool - and I can't wait to tell you guys about that when I get back.

Totally unrelated to Disney, but definitely related to our life around here with Lauren and Rachel is that we have lost 3 kids to the swine flu in Mississippi. Ages were 7, 12/13, and 15...otherwise healthy kids. This is disturbing to us - as both Rachel and Lauren are susceptible to major complications if they were to catch this flu. Rachel's Mom is restricting Rachel from going to the store or any place where there is a pharmacy. Rachel basically gets out for church, to go shopping, and other things - but no major contacts with school age children or anything. Lauren, on the other hand, is in a large high school, involved in all sorts of school activities, and there is very little we can do to protect her (aside from the normal washing your hands junk). This has been a major topic of discussion around here today and we are even considering what we will when Lauren's classmates start getting the flu - take her out of school for a little while? Until she can get vaccinated? It is a serious discussion around here.

So...there ya have it.

On a lighter note...

Both Lauren and I are on a podcast today called All About the Mouse. :yay: You can find it herehttp://www.allaboutthemouse.com. You can listen from any computer. They interviewed both of us about our experience at Give Kids the World. It was fun to do the interview. I have not listened to it yet...I guess I should before I tell all of you to go listen...but if I sounded stupid, we can all laugh together! I love the podcast as a whole and really would encourage everyone to listen to it weekly, honestly. Lots of good information and they are just fun to listen to and are genuinely nice guys.

Yea for Rachel doing MUCH better! All those prayer warriors have been heard!

Is Matt the possible recepient of some Make A Wish magic that you previously mentioned?

The whole swine flu drama has me losing sleep too because of Bella. I am so excited for her to start kindergarten tomorrow :cool1: but at the same time so worried that she will catch it. Thankfully, her teachers know she has a decreased immune system and I think (read: PRAY) they will take every precaution I would! I hope Lauren's teachers do as well.

I am going to listen to Lauren's podcast debut later on. My list of autograph requests has just grown by one more! One from the famous Lauren please! I also need to start bookmarking and listening to podcasts while I am cleaning the house. Which would be the best one for rookies like me?

I feel BETTER!!

So I just have one thing to say.......

In just 7 days, I will be in ORLANDO!!!!

:cheer2::woohoo::yay::dance3::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

WOOHOO for feeling better!!! Did you ever get a diagnosis?

AWESOME!! :wizard::wizard: continued healing prayers! :wizard::wizard: and prayers for magical vacation!! :wizard::wizard:

About ME: (Feel free to skip)

:rotfl2: I just got home from our trip to Chicago (our DS 21 who had some major health issue in Jan - PTL for healings!) He DID THE TRIATHOLON!! SO I'm one excited mom!! They are always your babies - :goodvibes They swam in 9ft of water in LAKE MICHIGAN (think, COLD, WAVES, WIND) for almost 1 mile then biked for about 24 miles then ran for 6miles - and :rotfl2: DH and DD as well as son's girlfriend thought we missed DS in the water - and we werent going to find him amongst the HUNDREDS - thousands? (10,000 total athletes - but were sent into water in waves of 150 swimmers, wait 5 min, next wave) HAH - as this group can attest - "Mama knows her baby"!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: (DH said I got lucky and quit bragging!! :rotfl2:)

[/SIZE]

Sandy, my FIL ran/swam/biked that Tri this weekend as well! Not my idea of fun, but he loves doing them. Congrats to your DS for finishing! What an amazing feat!

Maroo :worship: I am so going to have to google youtube and see if anyone uploaded that!! I went to Disney before Epcot was around :rolleyes1 but I have no memory! Thanks for clarifying the electric parades!!

STAY healthy!! :wizard::wizard: When you fly into Houston wave at my brother!!

StefaniLyn Its a small world!! The weather was so gorgeous - I posted pictures on the event/comp board : view the single post here:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33387533&postcount=455

Maroo we splurged one year and stayed at a 1 bedroom - its AWESOME!! I felt RICH!! 2 TV's, a washer/dryer, full size refrigerator!! We're going to cram into a studio for our Jan trip!

Have you started packing yet? Dont forget the camera (and charger!!)

I've been gone all weekend so I need to multi-quote to catch up on your PTR Maroo!

For the sake of speed at this point, I am only going to use my PINK writing to quote back...I am so sorry! I am thread overloaded right now, thought! Speed is very important these days!

So sorry you were so incredibly sick. What a bummer to be "blah" about Disney - so unlike you!

Thanks for the well wishes! I was blah and it was certainly not like me! More on the sickness in a bit...

Yea for Rachel doing MUCH better! All those prayer warriors have been heard!

No joke!!! This has been a wonderful, wonderful answer to prayer! We really have the old Rachel back - which is awesome!

Is Matt the possible recepient of some Make A Wish magic that you previously mentioned?

Matt0123 is the Mom of Lucas. And it does seem like Lucas is going to get some pixie dust on his trip! I have no idea who all is "listening" so I will leave it at that! But it has the potential to be one of the COOLEST things I have ever gotten to do. Granting a child's wish has to be a highlight of life!

There seems to be a lot of people around here that don't seem to care. I did find out today that they do have cases at her school. The main thing for her is that her assistant (who hands her things, etc) keeps herself from getting it. That is vital. And I told Lauren no hugging on boys! (I am sure she will straight up ignore that request!)

I am going to listen to Lauren's podcast debut later on. My list of autograph requests has just grown by one more! One from the famous Lauren please! I also need to start bookmarking and listening to podcasts while I am cleaning the house. Which would be the best one for rookies like me?

I will let Lauren know you want her autograph! You are so funny!

The All About the Mouse podcast is really long...if you are looking for long and entertaining.

WDW Today is shorter and each episode stands alone...so you don't have to "know" the podcasters as much to keep up.

The DIS podcast is great, but I listened for months before I started to catch on to some of the jokes and banter. Very entertaining, but you have to be in for the long haul.

Be Our Guest Podcast is fairly long and stands alone. They are very conversational. It really seems like they are just like you and me going to Disney...if that makes sense.

WOOHOO for feeling better!!! Did you ever get a diagnosis?

I did just today...I will update about that in a sec.

Maroo :worship: I am so going to have to google youtube and see if anyone uploaded that!! I went to Disney before Epcot was around :rolleyes1 but I have no memory! Thanks for clarifying the electric parades!!

You crack me up!

STAY healthy!! :wizard::wizard: When you fly into Houston wave at my brother!!

If I get stuck there I am going to call you! (Wait...I don't have your number?? :scratchin

I absolutely can not wait!!!!!

Have you started packing yet? Dont forget the camera (and charger!!)

The camera and charger are already packed! I have started, but need to do laundry tonight and finish some Big Give stuff (which I am already a day late on!)...THEN I will be getting more excited!

.

3 DAYS!!!!!

:cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo::yay: :cheer2:

That is right folks... Friday night I will be in DISNEY WORLD!!!

I can't wait! I am getting more excited each and every day. I also can't wait to get home and tell you guys all about it. It has the potential to be an awesome trip!

I do have a prayer request before I go, though.

I had a doctor's appointment today because I continue to have these "spells" where I am feeling really sickly. This has been much worse over the past two weeks - so we thought it was appendicitis or something. But - we now think it is a kidney stone.

I have a history of kidney stones and we know I have 2 waiting to pass. Historically I have had very long hospital stays due to complications from kidney stones, but have not had one in quite a while.

This makes sense - as they usually pass when I am dehydrated and I have not been drinking as much water since I was staying at Rachel's house. They have Diet Coke and I would rather drink that! I tend to drink more Propel when I am at my house.

Anyway...long story short. I have antibiotics to take on my trip. Some anti-nausea medicine and a little pain meds. But if it actually starts to pass on my trip - that would be very crummy! So please pray for me - for good health on my trip! I can deal with the rest after I get home.

I am feeling better in the past day or so because I have been drinking a lot more water. So, the plan is to drink lots of water on my trip and take it easy.

Sharon has had a very hard week...just starting her doctorate program and school started - so we are both sorta planning a very relaxed trip to Disney! So that is good!

3 Days!!!!!
:cheer2:

Thinking of buying the Cannon d10 for our upcoming trip in Sept., what did you think of it on you trip? Any advice wouldl be great! Thanks.

Lots of prayers for you, Maroo. Kidney stones are no fun.

And make sure you keep extra hydrated, now, and when you go to Disney. It's so easy to get dehydrated in the parks.

I love it so far - from the stuff I have done just around here and in PA. But the real test will be in Disney!! :)

:sad2:

:confused3

Actually, I haven't. I don't pay any attention to that kind of stuff. Even before we leave. Because you never know, that project path could change twenty times in the next three days.

hmmm - ok Lord as we look at the map - I know YOU have the power to blow that storm away from Florida!! Praise be to God!!

My brother is in Houston, not me... I'm in the cold frozen north - near Chicago!!

Kidney Stones - :scared1: My first born DS btdt... :scared1: so yes, you'll have my prayers!! God is good!! Believe!! Also drink more lemonade - add fresh squeezed lemons to your water!! I've done lots of research and Lemons and lemonade helps to prevent some kidney stones from forming!! You need to be drinking at least 3 liters of water/fluid a day - 4 liters in Disney!!

Lemonade increases the levels of citrate in your urine, and citrate helps prevent stone formation. Avoid the powdered lemonade mix - the frozen is just fine or liquid lemonade is fine! Drink at least 8 - 16 ounces a day!!

There was also stuff about diet - calcium is fine - drink your milk, eat your yogurt and cheeses!!

Prayers for Maroo. A safe trip and no kidney stones. As for Erika...looks like it is going up the East coast. I'll ask my special weather connection this evening and let you know what he says. :thumbsup2

So I checked with my special weather contact and got the "how long have you lived here, you know it is too early to make predictions" lecture. :rolleyes1
But anyway....looks like it is heading up the East coast and this morning reports have it weakening. :woohoo:

So Maroo and Sharon should have a great time in the World.

Prayers for you Mary.

And wow Tropical Storm Erika, hmmm, my sister must be stirring up trouble again:lmao::rotfl: (her name is EriKa, I don't see Erika with a K very often, so got a chuckle out of that)
