How tough has it become to get free dining in Sept.?

Because of some things that have come up, I'm going to have to move our May 2017 trip to the fall. I'm looking at the last week of September and saw that it has a good chance of being during the free dining promotion usually released.

I remember this past year when free dining came out, that there were some rumblings of how hard it was to get it, so I'm wondering if I should prepare for the possibility of not getting it. Don't want to get my hopes up if the reality is that the chances are slim. I'm a stay at home dad who gets up really early, so I have no problem camping out on the phone for a few hours if needed!

So I guess I'm just asking, if you tried to get it, what your experience in getting free dining for this year was. Were you able to get it or were you denied?

We are planning on staying at Pop if that matters.

I had called to inquire about free dining a month after it was released and it was still available even at ASMU so I honestly think if you call it should be a breeze

If it's offered pretty good. The bounce back for fall is fd so come down for a night and book next year fd now.

I tried booking around 7 am the day the free dining promo started and could not get Port Orleans, but there was still some availability at other resorts, mostly values and deluxes. Thankfully I had booked a bounceback the year prior, but I wanted to see what our other options were and possibly switch to a room for 5 so a guest could come along.

Unfortunately the bounce back now for 2017 excludes most of September. Your bounceback trip has to start on or before Sept. 9th 2017 for a September stay (if I remember correctly.) That was very disappointing to me. If I don't have a free dining bounceback for the week we want to attend, I might visit Universal next year for the first time since the kids were born and maybe just do a party night at the Magic Kingdom.

The bounce back free dining offer for 2017 does not include the last week of Sept...here are the dates:

5/30-6/6/17
6/30-7/5/17
8/11-9/9/17
12/8-12/20/17

There is a whole thread about the topic. Of course this does not mean that these will be the dates for general public Free Dining offer.

Less tough if you are slightly flexible with dates and resort. More difficult, if you are dead set on where you are staying and when you are going.

I was able to book the Free Dining package September 3-9 for my brother this year at Pop just 2 days before the booking period closed in July. I was pleasantly surprised!
