Hi there,

I was wondering if there was an extra cost or if there is an additional "thing" (for lack of a better word) that you have to sign up for to be able to use your DVC points toward a Disney Cruise or the other locations/resorts that are not "Disney"?

For instance, my mother use to belong to a time share. She had a condo in Florida for a particular week...blah, blah, blah (you know the story). But if she wanted to trade her week in Florida for another location or time, she had to belong to this other "club" or what have you, at an extra cost.

Is this how DVC is, or do you just get to use the points you purchased on a Cruise or other location without any extra fee's?

There is a $95 fee charged to use your points anywhere except the DVC resorts. For right now there is no fee to use your points at Disneyland in CA, tho.

Thank you!:flower3: Does this apply when using points to book a Disney crusie too?

Also, is there somewhere I can see a list of these 500+ other destinations?

Yes, there is a $95 fee for ALL non-DVC options (except for stays at DL resorts). This includes the Disney Collection, World Passport Collection, Adveture Collection and Concierge Collection.

Here is a link to the World Passport Collection options. The list changes often, so MS would be the final word on all resorts available in this collection.

Thank you so much for this link! :)

Is there a rule on how far in advance you'd have to book a non-Disney resort?

Right now we are just trying to wrap our minds around all the rules and fee's. We will mostly be using the points to stay at the DVC Villa's at WDW, but like to know we have a choice on something else occasionally.

Non-DVC options may be reserved 11 months ahead and Disney Cruise Line reservations may be made up to 2 years in advance.

That's how the program works best for most members. Purchase DVC primarily to stay at DVC resorts, but the other options are there for alternative use of the program.

Enjoy! :)
