How to use 2 credit cards when sharing villa?

We'll be taking our DD, SIL and 2 grandkids to WDW next June, all staying in a 2BR villa. We are DVC members; they are not. We are thinking of doing the dining plan, but we'll decide on that as we get closer to going.
What is the easiest way for us to have our room keys with our credit card, and their room key with theirs? In May we took my brother with us and when I did online check in, I didn't put in a credit card so that we could each have our own credit cards added. The CM at check in wasn't too pleased and we had to wait to have our room keys redone with the appropriate cc's. Is there a way to specify 2 separate cc's on the online check in? And if the dining plan has to be paid when I add it on, how can we separate the charges for this? Thanks!

No, you can't specify two cards during online check-in. I didn't even think you could do it at check-in.

In my experience only one credit card has been allowed per villa.

I've read here on the DIS that you CAN have one credit card tied to a KTTW card and a separate credit card tied to another KTTW card on the same reservation. But when I asked to do just this while checking in last year, the CM at the desk looked at me as if I had multiple heads! :confused3 I've never been able to have it done.

Only one CC for the DDP so have the other party pre-pay you then put it on your CC with MS for the points.

With the Lilo software upgrade, you can know assign separate CC's to different KTTW cards. If the CM at the Front Desk hesitate, ask for a manager.

Hmmm... We did it in May when we stayed at BLT. Had our cc put on our KTTW, and brother's cc put on his. Had to do it at check in and it took some time.
It doesn't make sense NOT to be able to do it - what about two families sharing a villa that aren't related? Or, as in our case, that ARE related, but want to keep costs separate?

Thanks for the input - hoping we get some additional responses.

Why can't you just use your actual CC when you want to buy something? Room Key charging as some kind of a perk has always been a mystery to me.

Since tourist destinations have a known CC skimming problem, the fewer times that you hand your CC to someone the better. Even still you run the risk of someone skimming your card.

We have had it happen to us twice at Disney, once at BWV and once at BCV.

worse case option....your folio will track charges by KTTW. You could just go to the front desk prior to your room's credit limit and apply 2 payments using two cards.

HTH

You also can't have some on DDP and some not. If one person gets DDP you all have too.

We will all be on the DDP. I was asking how to split the charges between the 2 families.

I know we can use a cc without adding it to the KTTW card, but we prefer not to carry our cc around. The fewer cards to carry the better. Just a matter of preference.
I guess there is no easy solution to the original question. Just trying to keep things easy and less time-consuming.

I have had each of my kids put their own CC on the KTTW card, though it does take time and not all CM's know how to do it. Also on cruises we do the same if staying in the same suite. That way I am not paying for alcohol, souvenirs, etc. for my adult children, especially since I don't drink!:)

We THOUGHT we had 2 cc# on file at AKV in September. However, I used my KTTW card all of the time, and in the end, my DCuz got the bill for the charges. Neither of us noticed it was her card that had the charges when we looked at the bill from AKV.

Earlier in September, we did have 2 cards on the room at BCV and that time, the charges did go to the right cc.

I was there last week, with friends, who shared our GV at SSR. It is now allowed in the system. I questioned when it happened and she responded it is a new upgrade to the system. It worked, no issues.

And of course the Lilo system only started in mid-December last year.

Although it's been offered to us during our big-family-trips, we haven't taken it. We prefer to not have ANY risks of things getting mixed up. So we don't have KTTW-charging, and just buy with money or our own cards as we go.

If you are also asking about the charges for the dining plan, I don't think you can split that up. The families will have to work that out on their own.

We always do this when we stay with family. We all stay in a 2bd and have one cc on file when we check in . My sister and her husband use their room card to charge and I use mine. The night before checkout we go to the front desk and they run 2 separate bills based on the two room keys. They can separate them and then we each pay our own charges. This has never ever been a problem. We have been doing this for the past 5 yrs.

I'm alot more worried about someone charging stuff to my room than I am about CC skimming. I know it is a common threat, but fraud charges to my CC are easily dealt with and cost me nothing. I'm in Card Fraud (prevention) ;) by profession so I probably think about it more than most however. We generally use prepaid cards and cash for most stuff and I never even give the DVC resort a CC#. On our last trip I had a special Debit Card. Each day I carefully transferred via my iphone just enough money in the debit card's checking account that we needed that day. Transfers were instant. This limited my exposure of cash on hand as well as any exposure if the debit card were lost or stolen or skimmed. My wife thought it was overkill and maybe it was. Of course we had some cash, prepaids, and Credit Cards for backup.

Convincing Disney that I didn't eat a bunch of meals or make a bunch of purchases that someone with one of my rooms keys did or that I got charged accidentaly for someone else's.... I'm not so sure how to do that. :confused3

In the end, I think a bit of cash and two Credit Cards is all anyone would reasonably need to be safe. Carrying around a credit card is burdensome? Do people leave their wallets in the room or the car? really?

Your post is funny! And I don't mean that snarkily!! You ask why some wouldn't want to carry multiple cards around yet everyday you had to transfer funds by deciding how much money you need to a prepaid debit cards!!! Really??? Talk about burdensome? It really shows that people are so different in what they deem convenient and inconvenient. If that works for you it's great. I would be crazy trying to keep track of prepaid cards and what is on there:scared1: But then I am an accountant so I like things nice and neat and on one bill so I can see all charges in their entirety! That way I can easily see if something is wrong.

And while I have been to the mouse many times and never NOT put my CC on file, I have never had to tell Disney I didn't make a transaction. They have been right 100% of the time. If I did see something wrong, I simply would say that wasn't my transaction and as long as I have possesion of my cards I shouldn't have a problem. I also don't put charging on my kids cards as of yet because they could lose them. But on the Cruise ships they have them and it isn't a problem.

We have NEVER put a credit card on file with the Disney resorts, and always use our debit card. We too have never had an issue doing this, and caring the card is not that difficult. I usually keep my driver's license, annual pass, key card and debit card in my AP case. I feel like it's safer to keep my ID with me instead of leaving it in the room even if I use the in room safe.

When we just added the ddp for our December trip with my parents, I was able to pay for the four of us with my credit card and my parents with theirs for all 10 nights. My mother had to be in the room to give her permission.

I don't know about on the KTTW card. But I would think that if you want to do the DDP and they don't book the room and just put those in the DDP on the actualy reservation and still book the proper room size. Seeing as you would be purchasing all park tickets seperate anyway. You might get less room keys but I know me and DH only ever use one of ours so give each family a room key. This is what I would do myself.
