Hello,

We are going to WDW from Boston on Feb 24th and would like to know what others packed for their vacation with a toddler and what they checked at the airport.

Do we bring a travel seat for meals, car seat? How to get all that stuff on the plane...

Thanks

I took a car seat for the plane and an umbella stroller. Each child had a SMALL carry one with colored pencils, paper, DD a paper doll she picked out but had not played with, but the baby had soft toys (nothing that hurt if thrown or made noise if 'dropped') Then I took plenty of junk food. I did not take a seat for eating or anything else extra for that matter. I don't care much for flying and with kids it was worse. Never enough space, etc. We much prefer driving even now that the kids are older. BUT, the only time the would be eating was a lay over in Atlanta and they were not going to be confined for that hour + after being on a plane for two hours. I just allowed them to move around the airport. Anywhere we ate at Disney had high chairs.

We went a few weeks ago with our 19 month old and our 3 year old boys. We got a seat for both boys (if you get a seat for a toddler under 2, you do need a car seat).

We take a backpack full of small (quiet) toys, crayons, paper, books and mini-magna doodles. We also take snacks (goldfish, Nutri-grain bars, & other small, non-messy snacks). These seem to keep the kids occupied on our 2 1/2 hour flight. Depending on the time of your flight, you can also hope that your toddler sleeps.

We do take the stroller all the way to the gate, and then check it there. It will be waiting for you when you get off the plane at your destination. The worst part of this is that you'll need to send the stroller (and the car seat) through the x-ray machine, so you'll have to get your child in and out at security.

We did not bring any kind of seat for the meals. All the restaurants have high chairs. In our hotel room, he did okay just sitting in the table chair for snacks & breakfast. We also didn't pack any other toys (other than our plane toys) because there is so much to do at Disney that we didn't need them.

We pack disposable bibs for those messy meals & snacks. We also bring a couple of sippy cups (our son is not very neat with a cup & straw). We pack our diapers and wipes in our suitcase, which leaves some room for souvenirs when we come home, though some people choose not to pack them and buy them there. If your toddler is not potty-trained, you will need swim diapers for the swimming pools.

I agree to leave the portable seat at home. If you are going to eat in your hotel room, just use your stroller as a highchair tray. I would bring your carseat and stroller. Disposble bibs and sippy cups are a good idea too.

I will be bringing my folding booster seat, but my dd is 13 months and while she is a great eater in a highchair/booster seat, she wouldn't eat in her stroller and wouldn't sit still on a normal chair, so it will make a huge difference.

We are going to put it in a duffle bag and check it.

we have a 9 hour flight, so if you are worrying, you can think of us, and then maybe you will feel better!

we are checking our carseats and will take the stroller to the gate. DD (age 6) has a case on wheels that she can manage in the airport and that will hold all the toys and snacks for the flight, and DH will carry the backpack with baby changing gear in it and clean clothes for everyone including mum (because I have been covered in baby gunge on a plane before, and there is nothing worse than 9 hours in a smelly shirt)
