How to travel between Dolphin and SSR

I've just made reservations for my daughter and a friend and the first night of their stay wasn't available at SSR so they are going to stay at Dolphin (on SPG points) the first night if the waitlist doesn't come thru. They will not have a car this stay, so I'm wondering what would be the best way to get from Dolphin to SSR on their second day? My first thought is to take the bus from Dolphin to DTD and then the boat to SSR. Any other thoughts?
Thanks!

That would work, but if they will have luggage with them I'd suggest just taking a cab. It shouldn't be more than $10, including tip, from the Dolphin to SSR.

Using WDW transportation, I think it would be fastest to take the boat to DHS and then bus to SSR. I keep seeing reports of long waits and long rides to DTD. And the boat from DTD to SSR only runs every 60 minutes from DTD to SSR until 4ish. Doesn't even start until 11ish.

I agree that the taxi would be fastest and easiest. But if they do use WDW transportation, I think I've read that luggage transfers are done between the Swolphin and WDW resorts.

Thanks all - probably will just have them do the cab. In case they decide to use Disney transport - does anyone know if they actually do luggage transfer btwn Dolphin and SSR? Just curious so I can give them all of the options.
Thanks again

According to the first page of this S/D FAQ, the answer appears to be...maybe.:confused3

Perhaps ask on that FAQ for recent experiences or do a search on the FAQ.

Luggage transfers are offered by WDW Resorts bellman services. They do not transfer to or from the Swan and Dolphin hotels, however.

Well, it's a yucky day here so I spent some time searching.

It sounds to me as if it might work if you were moving from SSR to S/D but not the other way depending on how busy bell services is. Here's a post that explains that a bit:

The author of that S/D thread says that she's had luggage transfer at the S/D numerous times and has never been turned down. But in her first post, it's not clear if she meant transferring to the S/D or from. I suspect it is to the S/D as it is WDW who actually moves the luggage.

I didn't ask for recent experiences since I don't have any such plans.

Oh, and I found another thread that said one could have luggage transferred from the S/D to another resort.:confused3 Just to add to the confusion.

Problem is that post was written in August of 2007 and some of it is out of date. Such as having to rent refridgerators in the rooms - the Swan offers fridges in all rooms free of charge now.

Doesn't hurt to ask, and perhaps with a nice sized tip they may go for it, but it certainly is not offered as a "perk" and WDW Resorts do have the official word that they transfer only between WDW Resorts. You also cannot use ME for Swan Dolphin either.

It's a funny thing about that thread. It's called the 2008 FAQ and that first post containing the transfer info was modified in August of this year even though the original date was in 2007.

Humphrey's quote is even older but I think explains the situation well.

And the thread I found that said they will transfer was from 2008 I'm pretty sure but I didn't copy it because it didn't really give a personal and recent experience just said it could be done.

But as we've all said, taxi would be the easiest regardless.

Actually, the post was "edited" in August 2008 but the content came from the 2007 thread/posting.

If they do, in fact, accomodate transfers to other hotels, then by all means I would go for it! I would definitely tip well though since it is a service that is not routinely offered...:)

If it were me, I'd take a cab. It isn't too far at all, as they are very close to each other. It would be so much easier.
