How to Transport Kids - strollers?

I need serious help! My kids have not ridden in strollers for well over a year, although they are only 3 & 4. This will be our first trip to Disney and I KNOW they will not want to walk all day for a week. Now, usually, when we do outings - like the zoo - I take our red wagon. It is perfect for us. I have not been able to find any information about taking wagons into the park. Is this a big NO- NO?

You might want to rent strollers. The rentals are nice for kids that age, particularly ones that can do some of their own walking (to and from the resort, since the park rentals are in the park only). But they are expensive.

Check out the pictures of the double strollers. I think your kids will like them because they are "different" than most traditional strollers....the ones at MK are almost like a push ride.
The kids can easily get in and out of them and at their ages it will definitely make your life easier.

If you are travelling with more than one adult you many consider taking 2 umbrella strollers. They are pretty inexpensive, easy to fold, etc. That way if you are driving, you will have no problem taking it along or if you are flying it would be helpful to push the kids around the airport. You can gate check them and they will be at the arrival gate once you get off the plane.
Also, you will have the strollers with you at the resorts for walking around and at Downtown Disney - where you definitely want your child in a stroller.
I believe you can get clips that attach to the umbrella strollers to make them a double stroller if needed.
Or maybe take at least one umbrella stroller that they can share.

You can get clips, did that with my kids. And while it was great for an occational trip to the mall, the strollers clipped together were really hard to steer. I wouldn't want to do it at Disney all day unless I had no other options (it is cheap, which is why I did it - I never bought a double stroller for my kids).

Honestly, I think renting a double stroller is the way to go. Easier on you, more comfortable for them, and allowed!

I believe you can get clips that attach to the umbrella strollers to make them a double stroller if needed.

I would consider this to be a "last resort" option if you are going to push them for any length of time. We use the connectors at the airport until we get the bags checked/after we pick up the bags and each push one stroller the rest of the time. The clips are handy for very short periods, but extremely awkard to push for any length of time.

My kids are the same ages as OP an we rented a double stroller. They really liked it and it's very easy to manuever. You can get a discount (10% maybe??) if you rent them for the entire time you're there.

Also,you can get the rented strollers at DTD- did you know that? I had no idea... until this last trip when we'd paid for all the days at the park in advance (stroller rental I mean) to get a discount and then ended up not usin the last day. I hadn't been getting our $1 disney dollar deposit back each day and wanted to get it back the last day even though we hadn't used the last day of stroller rental. Front desk told me I'd have to go to a park like MK and have someone escort us to the stroller rental place (since I didn't want to use a park day on our park hoppers just for that!) and get it. Then I noticed the tickets I had for the stroller rental mentioned DTD on the back of them! I called GS there at DTD and low and behold.. they do rent the strollers there too so we were able to get the deposit refund there.

I had no idea you could rent the strollers at DTD also... was news to me! LOL

If your kids cant make it around the zoo, or the mall, without the wagon, I think renting will be very expensive for you and you are better off bringing your own. Use it now. Take your kids to the mall in it and say you are practicing for Disneyworld. Tell them if they cant sit in it right, then you probably cant go to WDW......

Purchasing a double stroller is not cheap. If she doesn't have one already and will only use it for Disney World, she might be better off renting.

We were in the same boat. I never used a double stroller. I had a wagon and the stroller clips for an umbrella stroller for the occational mall trip. Seven day rentals set us back about $90 (this was several years ago). A decent double is about $150. Granted you could resell the double stroller and recoup some cost, but not everyone does that (we don't).

So as to very expensive, it depends. The Disney rentals are a fixed price. Then you need to compare what double stroller you'd get and if you'd resell it and for how much.

She could check a consignment store like Once Upon a Child for a double to take to WDW (and practice with before hand). I have seen doubles several times at our local store. I haven't ever priced then new or used, but I'd think used you could do for less than or about the same as the rental price. Just a thought...

If you dont have a stroller already and cost is your concern, two umbrella strollers will cost you no more than $40.
