How to transfer points?

Can anyone explain how to transfer points in the DVC? I'm new to this discussion forum, but have been a DVC member for years and don't know how to do this?

First you must find another member either willing to transfer points to your account or willing to pay for your points. After that has been arranged and payment arrangements agreed upon, the person doing the transferring of points calls member services and requests the transfer; they will need your DVC member number to complete the transaction.

Please make sure all details are decided prior to the transfer because they are permanent.

I have done transfers in the past and always speak on the phone with the person to be comfortable with them. There is an element of trust involved.

You can make one transfer per Use Year, either into or out of your account.

You can also transfer to yourself if you have more than one master contract number. We have one 50 point resale that we purchased. Different UY. So we either use the points to get as many nights as possible or we transfer into from our other bigger contract or transfer out of it to the bigger contract.

if transferring points in, do the transferred points' uy change in anyway? do they remain as they were in the transferor's contract, or do they switch to the transferee's contract uy? what if they were about to expire shortly before the transfer, does the transfer push back the expiration date? or am i missing something about transferring points?

Transferred points are supposed to maintain the UY and resort. So if someone transferred points about to expire, they will have to be used before their expiration date. Especially if you are past the banking deadline for those points. In the last two months you can't bank anymore.
