We just got back from the theater. I loved this movie! It was fun and intelligent. All of us (43, 42, 16, and 7) really liked it.

Us too! We all loved it! (44, 42, 11, 8) Totally worth it to see in 3D and we all came out of the theatre wanting our very own Toothless. :goodvibes

We didn't see the 3D version. Maybe if it comes to the dollar movies. I definitely would like to see it again.

I'm normally not a Dreamworks fan (I think they rely too much on crude, cheap humor), but I absolutely adored this movie! It was amazing and I think one of my favorite animated movies.

I was reading that the director really loved Lilo and Stitch and modeled Toothless after Stitch. You can definitely see it in the way they animated him! I think that's one reason I liked it so much, Stitch and I were good friends when I worked for WDW.

The plot was great and the animation was beautiful in many places. I loved how they did the ending. Based on what I have read, it sounds like it doesn't match up to the books too well, but it was a fantastic movie!

I agree--absolutely adorable. I actually called other family members to tell them they needed to see it!

I loved this movie too! I took my 4 yr old DD and my 2 yr old DS (first time at a movie) and they both loved it....and my 2 yr old sat the entire time - now that's saying something!

it looks SO cute! i think DH and i are going to go see it this weekend! we keep talking about how much the dragon reminds us of our one cat :lmao:

I am glad people are enjoying it. When I first saw the previews I was not all that interested but after hearing how much people like it and seeing more clips I am dying to see it. Maybe I will take my cousin this weekend.

Me, my DS and DM went to see it the day it came out and loved it! I like Eeyore's Butterfly, don't like the crude humor that Dreamworks usually puts out but this one was amazing! I left the theater wanting to pay the $6 to see it again right then! Toothless was so fun to watch and the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless was so well written!

We loved it too!! I took DS and 2 other 1st graders. I liked the characters, the storyline, the 3D effects. I even teared up a little. Well done!!

Actually the director of Dragon is Chris Sanders and he was also the director of Lilo and Stitch too. (which explains alot)

Glad to hear the good reviews!! I wanted to see it when I saw the trailer but DFiance was a little hesitant since it's Dreamworks (and not Disney.. he's a big of a snob ). Now I'm going to make him go!

Glad to hear everyone enjoyed it!

My dd saw it with her friends and they are middle schoolers. They loved it. She wants to buy it when it comes out and that says a lot.:thumbsup2

Have heard almost nothing but good things about it, even from critics - last I checked it had a 93%+ rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which is crazy high. We didn't get a chance to see it last weekend for a few reasons but hope to catch the early matinee on Saturday.

I absolutely LOVED this movie! Toothless reminded me so much of my cat (a black cat with green eyes) in everything from facial expressions to personality. I'll be buying this as soon as it comes out on DVD.

That's a huge understatement. My son loved loved loved these books, and also loved the movie, and while they have a similar kooky feel to them, and they both have characters with the same name, the similarity ends there - in the book all the Vikings have dragons, and Toothless is the smallest one, the size of a cat basically. Also, in the book Toothless and Hiccup talk to each other, whereas in the movie they don't. The whole plot is different.

My son made his best friend read the book after the movie (and then we had to go to the bookstore so he could read the next 2 books which we had leant and not gotten back), and their consensus was that they were way more different than the Percy Jackson books/movies, which is ironic since every kid I know complains about that. But, like I said, they don't care because the movie is so fun.

Just to clarify: Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois are the co-writers/co-directors of How to Train Your Dragon and were also the co-writers/co-directors of Lilo & Stitch. IMO, that's why HTTYD is so good. :goodvibes

I saw HTTYD on Saturday (just 2D, because I hate wrestling with the extra glasses), and thought it was great! I didn't know too many spoilers going in, which was nice, because I was on the edge of my seat wondering how they were going to resolve the plot. The relationship between Hiccup and Toothless was really charming, and the whole thing, animation, voices, story, characters all worked very well. I would definitely recommend this! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I was actually just coming to update that when I realized I hadn't remembered that correctly.

I am a huge animal lover and the dragons reminded me so much of my pets. I can't wait for it to come out on video. All my friends are teasing me about beinga traitor since it isn't a Disney film.
