I would like to surprise them with this and have them open a gift but what should I put in the box to give them a hint they are going to disney world, they are 6, 4, 2 years of age.:confused3

We are doing this tomorrow!

DH is in charge of it, but I know it involves clues.

The final clue is to go to google earth and put in the coordinates for WDW.

I sure hope I get to see this happen (am on call for a birth).

Our kids are somewhat older though 10,7&3

This time around we are trying NOT to tell the kids until we are on our way to the airport. I'm having a heck of a time keeping it a secret and still have a long way to go but hopefully we will make it.

Not sure what to suggest to you as your younger two are fairly young to play a "clue" type of game with but no matter what you decide I'm sure they will be so excited!

I wouldn't tell them anything until about a week before. The wait is sooo long for kids. My 1st trip was when I was 11 (now 16) and my parents told me a week before which made the wait bareable. It's enough time for them to get all excited and also have something to really look forward to.

We told our 6 year olds on their birthday, which was 2 weeks before the trip. We bought 2 huge helium-shaped Mickey-shaped balloons and attached "You're Invited" cards to the balloon strings (similar to the balloons on the "What Will You Celebrate?" commercials). Then we wrapped the balloons in a large box. When they opened the box, they were thrilled to see the big Mickeys pop out. My son read the invite out loud, and they both realized that they were headed to Disney World soon. It was a lot of fun.

No matter how you choose to tell your children, you'll be guaranteed big smiles and lots of excitement. Good luck!

Great ideas you all have for telling the kids!

I live in Orlando, but I never get tired of the look on my children's faces when I tell them we're going to the Magical Kingdom. Honestly, after three years, they still get so happy!

I am planning a trip for this February and instead of telling them where we're going, I'm going to wake them up in the morning and tell them to get dressed for a field day :)

Can't wait to see their reaction when we pull up at Disney!

Keep your awesome ideas coming. I love reading about them.

I will admit that I am jealous of your access to the Mouse. I'm in Kansas City...so far away. And to think I used to live in Florida...I must be crazy to have moved away.

My DD12's first trip to WDW was when she was 6. I gave it to her as an Xmas gift. I wrapped a couple of Disney T-shirts and a Certifiacte that said she was entitled to a trip to Disney along with a Countdown Calender that I made with lots of Disney clipart on it. She loved marking off the days on the calendar! We hung it on the refrigerator and every night before bed marked off another day!

Well the Countdown Calendar has become quite a tradition and we have continued to do this for every trip. Except for the one coming up in March.....this one is a secret.

We live only about 30 miles from the airport and pass by it at least once a month or so when we go shopping, etc. When we go by we jokingly say "where do you want to fly today?" Usually the response is Florida.

Well, the plan is for me to finish the packing the morning of Fri March 26 and have the luggage secretly stowed in the car before DD gets home from school. Then we will leave the house in the afternoon (DD gets out of school early that day for the start of Spring Break) and I'm going to tell her that I have some shopping to do. As we approach the airport the ususal "where do you want to fly today?" will come out and when she says Florida, DH will say "okay" and pull into the airport!!!

Well, I can't wait to see her face!!!

i read this in a post earlier today...
the family wrapped a HUGE box and put helium filled balloons in it. One of the balloons had pretend tickets attached to the string. the kids faces must've been priceless.
almost made me cry just reading about it!

That sounds really nice! Those kids must have been so excited!

I'd maybe put a homemade gift certificate in the box saying something like "good for one trip to disney" and then put the dates you are going.

Our last trip I made up a calander for this kids to mark off each day...To mark the first day of DisneyWorld I used a Mickey Mouse sticker.

THIS time around My son 6 is starting to read really well. We paln to pull over at the first sign we see for Disneyworld and have him read it! We have TONS of family in Florida so going to Florida alone wont be a clue.:rotfl:
