Hi,
I know several have posted about this, but I can't find the posts! We are going to WDW MLK week, and I would like to spring the trip on our DD (age 7) for Christmas. We will be buying our hopper passes when we get there.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
Gretchen

I took out the fortune in a fortune cookie, replaced it with one I typed saying 'We're going to Disney World!' and took my daughter out for Chinese food. We left the next morning!

We were going to have the car packed and leave Christmas morning for the airport telling the kids we were going to visit a friend's family-who just happens to live near the airport, and then tell them when we passed the exit. However, we have video taped every Christmas morning since the kids were born and we did not want to miss that or miss the Grandparent's and Uncles and Aunts who live near us from saying goodbye. So what we are doing instead is giving them each a box with a Disney t-shirt, a guest of honor badge with their name on it, and their own annual pass certificate and will be able to tape them opening it. When they ask when they are going we will say in 4 hours, let's go! I will have packed the week before as we have told them that we are thinking of going to Maine for a long weekend after Christmas! I can't wait, now if I can just get DH to keep his mouth shut, we just may be able to keep it a secret, lol!

We surpirsed our 3dds last Christmas with a trip over New Year's. We bought the personalized sweatshirts from the Disney Catalog and put the dates of our trip on the shirt. Took our dds all of 10 seconds to figure out we were leaving the next week! The pictures I have of this are priceless!

I also had found Disney picture frames and put in them "This spot reserved for a picture from Donald's Breakfastosaurus on 1/4/03".

Have a great trip!

In our family, we all gave Disney to each other for Christmas last year. My DH and I used the money that we would have spent on Christmas presents to finance the trip. The kids were not allowed to spend any money buying presents for each other or us, but instead they were to set that money aside for their own personal spending money. We prepared a surprise box for each of the kids to open on Christmas morning instead of the many presents that we traditionally have. The boxes were large and covered with Disney paper and had removable lids (like big hat boxes). Inside, everyone had been assigned a dwarf character (there were seven of us going!), accompanied by the matching beanie and pin. Everyone got their own share of Disney stock (www.frameastock.com), and a few Disney dollars. Also included were their own refillable mug from the resort that we were going to, an autograph book and 'fat' disney pen, a book for the country stamps in Epcot, and a few other small items that I had picked up over the months of planning. These boxes were a great hit, Christmas morning was WONDERFUL, and these seven dwarfs had a very magical trip a few weeks later!!!

We have done 2 surprise trips for our Niece and Nephew, and have our 3rd coming up in JANUARY 8th

We have 5 Nieces and Nephews

First we took Brittany the older girl....
Jen had done stuff with the other children 2 girls Twins
and the 2 boys threw out the summer.. and we told Brittany that
just the 2 of them would go out and do girl stuff for the day.
When her Father droped her off at house we asked her what she wanted to do she said go see a movie , We said ok but it would have to be in Florida cause we r going to Disney .... boy was she surprised.. offf to airport we went...

Then the older boy Andrew We told him he was going to Jens office to have his Teeth cleaned... and took him to the airport was playing game boy along the way did not even notice and since they r kids they think Logan Airport is the only airport , we went to Manchester Nh. and boy did his ears perk up when we went threw the gate at the paking lot.. and it said Welcome to Manchester airport... told him to Grab his Bag and off we went....

For the trip coming up the twin girls r being told that Dad has to work an overnight shift and so they have to stay over our house..
when they get here there is a friend of ours who the girls love, she is going to be here to do something fun with the Girls
But She is actuallly going to Florida with us.. And we will all go off to go do something fun, and off to the airport we go..........

We also decided Since the older girl Brittany got the BEST report card in the entire school for her Grade ( 5 ) that we would include her in this trip as well ..... so the twin will not think that this is the surprse trip because there is alot of people not just the 2 of them .... 6 total
These children have just there Dad.. MOM decided to Ended her own life..... and Brittany is the one that Tugs a my heart the most..... So if we can do anything for this child to make her feel Special we do... U KNOW WHAT I MEAN.................... Since She was the oldest the lose of her mom has hit her the hardest.....

It's probably too soon to get the Disney Vacation Planning video / DVD sent to you from Disney, but I have a copy that I ordered for my DS.

If you'd like, I could send it to you.

You could put it in her stocking. When I was little, stockings always came last, so it could be the finale for you!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!
Peter, good for you, taking care of those kids...good for you!
Denise, thanks so much for the offer. I have a planning video from last year that I never took out of the box. Thanks again!
Here's what we are going to do:
I picked up a Hello Kitty (DD loves Hello Kitty) rolling back pack (and it's purple, and only cost 10 bucks) I'm going to wrap the video, and make a count down chain. We will save it for the end, I can't wait to see her face when she opens it. Priceless!
Thanks so much for the ideas,
Gretchen

DH and I are surprising our DD for Christmas too! She is 6. We have wrapped a large WDW gift box we got on our last trip and labeled it from Santa. Inside is some of our souvenirs from our last trip along with a letter from Santa detailing the trip. We have been "noticing" our souvenirs have been "missing" and we really have her wondering what is happening to her stuff. I also used our park passes from the last trip and taped them in her stuffed Minnie Mouse's hand. The gift will be delivered by Santa on Christmas Eve and we cannot wait to see her face. She is going to be soooooo excited.
