How to stay cool in the heat

My normal summer strategy is to abandon the parks in the heat of the day & head back to the pool. With the new one-park-a-day thing, though, there's no way I'm leaving Epcot if it's my one & only day there. However, World Showcase in July is roughly the same temperature as the Sun. I've seen people with those Froggy towels (?), do you guys recommend cooling towels like those for the neck? I have one of the spray fans Disney sells as well as a parasol to keep the sun off me. Any other suggestions?

With the added addition of the masks, Epcot is going to be brutal. For our trip to the dark side, we had cooling towels on our necks and foreheads, and we always had a drink in our hands, because if you are in the process of drinking you were allowed to have your mask down. Not sure if Disney will allow this, but if so, that’s what I’ll be doing. Fans are a must have, for sure, and umbrellas/parasols are a great idea as well. I think best advice is if you feel yourself getting too hot(and you should practice determining this point before it’s too late) hop into a shop and rest. No one will judge you for taking an minute in the air conditioning, provided you have your mask on. I think the biggest thing is knowing yourself, and when you need the break. And especially for Epcot, walking around the showcase you will want to dip into as many shops as possible to cool down. I suggest not having too many plans and just meander around so you aren’t rushing(and therefore more sweating) to your destination. Leave room for the heat and yourself.

Cooling towels, an umbrella, frozen bottles of water, salt tables, these are all things in my backpack when I visit the parks during the Summer. Also avoid alcohol, soda if you can,
Take advantage of the indoor queues and attractions, do the attractions with outdoor queues later in the day (in the case of Epcot)
Now your body, if you start feeling thirsty you're already dehydrated

I recommend the Mission cooling towels, as they are lighter than the chilly pads and are easier to clean between uses. They also make gaiters and headbands which could be useful. (Also hats, but I guess that’s redundant to a parasol LOL) I’d also recommend a Hydroflask or similar bottle so I can keep ice all day and just keep refilling the water. Personally (and this is TMI but hey you asked), I also carry wipes, powder, and deodorant so I can freshen up during the day, and that really helped me cool off and feel human.

Not TMI at all, adding all of that to my list! Thanks!

I recommend the cooling towels, too. They are a life-saver for me. I also use a small hand held battery operated fan that sprays water. I used it this past weekend at the zoo and used the mister when I stopped at a mask-break area. Otherwise I just used the fan when I walked around

These aren't exactly like mine but I just wanted you to see that I'm talking about a very small fan.

What kind of cooling towels did you use? I have buffs that I use for hiking & I'm wondering if that would be good enough, or if I should buy a special pack from amazon?

It isn't so much that Florida is hot and humid, but that most people spend their summers inside with A/C and their bodies struggle with the temperature change. Acclimating before leaving for WDW by raising the house temp or spending more time outside in the heat and sun can help with the climate transition.

I hope people do not walk around with a bottle of water and think that allows them to walk around mask free or mask down because they can claim they are drinking. The spirit of the mask rule is to keep as many people as safe as possible. Please do not think I, I, I, but know everyone you see is a loved one of somebody. I was at a hot and humid outdoor graduation last weekend and I wore my mask the whole time except for when I needed a drink when I lowered it for the brief time it took to get a drink from my water bottle. Yes, it was hot but yes it is doable.

I've heard Disney has already said (or maybe it was Universal or someone?) that if you use that as an excuse, they'll ask you to sit down in the eating area, finish your beverage, and then continue on. Otherwise anyone could say "I'm drinking this" or "I just put my snack back in my bag" as an excuse. I've been out in 103 heat index with a mask on, so heat + mask isn't really what I'm worried about. I just need other strategies to deal with the heat in general at the parks since my usual method at Disney is hiding from 2-5pm, lol.

Definitely use a parasol or a mini umbrella. They make a big difference.

Try to avoid soda if you can. Hydrate before you get to the parks.

I don't use the cooling towels. I feel they don't do enough to justify wearing them.

A hat with a wide brim and one of these water spray bottles that you can also drink from - no batteries required! . I put the bottle in the freezer the night before so it is extra cold. Then i refill it with ice water half way through the day. Just ask at a quick service for a large cup of water. I also slide the bottle inside of a neoprene wine sleeve which gives you a handled to hold and keeps the bottle colder. https://www.target.com/p/o2cool-mis...r-bottle-purple-metallic-krackle/-/A-54022356

The American Adventure and Impressions de France are both great for an air conditioned break.

Working here in Florida in the summer
It’s best to drink lots of water days before you go.
Cause once you get thirsty your all ready dehydrated

I like Opolar personal fans, they produce so much air flow.

I have terrible hot flashes, so they are a must for me.

I do not like the towels, as I think they help for a second and then they are hot and gross.

We used those little spritzers last week to squirt water on our faces, as well as use backpack hydration bladders to drink often. Helps to duck into easy, no line, places like Nemo to enjoy the air conditioning for a few minutes too.
