would any one be prepared to give me some step by step guides on how to start creating my own designs??

i am in awe of all the wonderfull things i have seen on this forum, and i have used some of them myself, however i would love to have a little go myself.

i would like to learn how you add the pictures behind the names and then how you find all the fantatic pictures!!

i would like to try and make some disney pj's and may be some letterheaded paper for all my planning, i just want to be able to have a little play around.

i dont have any special software and am not sure if i need any?

many thanks if any one will be kind enough to help.

It's called masking each program has a different way of doing this. But here's a suggestion, do this sparingly, as you see there's alot of people doing this and personally I think the novelty is wearing thin. Great effect? YES! Overused? YES!

Most people here use Photoshop Elements. I personally use professional grade software. Only because of my extended hobby for game design.

I used the stickies at the top of the board to get started...they are very helpful finding fonts and clip art and wallpaper sites to get started

I use PhotoImpact. If you go to the Corel website...you can download a free 30 day trial version. It also was suggested in the stickies.

I can do the pic in the Name DISign with mine...but can't seem to figure out how to get contrasting borders on the letter:confused3 I KNOW there has to be a way...I just haven't figured it out.

That said..I agree with Bayou Mickey...AMAZING RESULTS with that DISign...but there are a lot of DISigners doing it already.

I started when the boards opened. There were many of us that were real novices. In addition, there were some great DISigners (as there are now). As everyone had different strengths and weaknesses Baloo put together some directions and guidance for people. as mentioned above, that information can be found in the stickys. while some of the links may be out dated, the information is wonderful. I am a PI user also. I have PSE but don't know how to use it.

As far as the pictures behind the name, I agree with the previous posters. Many have done it and some have done some beautiful ones. I am pretty good with creating some things, but if I wanted a name, I would go to one of the fantastic DISigners on the boards who already mastered the technique and does it well.

If you want background/clipart, again,I agree with the previous poster, look at the stickys, they will recommend some places. here some http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd181/Chaos1Cent/Backgrounds and Clipart/

Last but not least, many of the original DISigners left there DISigns behind. Check in the sticky and click on their link. Also, many of the current DISigners post blanks in their host site.

Last but not least, how do you come up with a DISign? It just kinda hits you in the face. I do "I don't want to go home DISigns". I have about 100 pieces of clip art and sometimes that clip art will just jump at me with the words that go on the shirt. However, to come up with real unique ideas, you have to have that Unique gene, :lmao: I am often amazed by some of the ideas that people come up with. even though I consider myself a DISigner, I ask for a copy of someone else's DISigns a few times a month. :lovestruc

Hope this helps.:flower3: Penny :upsidedow
