Pardon my inexperience but I've only been home once.

We're going this November and I was wondering how to spend a lazy day around the resort. DH will want to get a massage, and the kids and I will want to explore. DS is 7 and DD 10.

What are some things we should be sure to see?

What are the kids activities like? I know there's no way to tell exactly what will be offered that day but I don't even know what could possibly be in the mix--any info would be great!

What types of recreation have you enjoyed at OKW?

I'd love to hear about what you all do when you just spend your day at the resort!:)

A few options:

Rent bikes at Hanks and ride around the resort.
Lounge by one of the pools.
Take the boat to Downtown Disney.
Rent a boat and explore the waterways (you can cruise over to Port Orleans and exlplore that resort if you want).
Take the OKW landscaping tour (offered on Wednesday morning, I think)
Follow the walking trail through the woods and over to Downtown Disney.

I don't know anything about the Kids programs, so I can't help you there.

In August of 2003, the OKW offered:

--Fishin' Cruise, ages 5 and up. $18 for members, $20 for guests.

--Unbirthday Party, ages 5-10

--Tiny-tot Tea Party, ages 4 and under

--Games and a Movie, all ages

--Pool Fun - games, contests, prizes, etc.

--Disney Classic Movie, all ages

--Sand Art, all ages

--Goofy Bingo, all ages

--Open Crafts, all ages

--Basketball Skills Game, all ages

--Squish Art, all ages

--Woodsie Craft (no description)

--Tie-dye T-shirts, all ages, $10 members, $12 guests

--Create Your Own Autograph Book, all ages

Those not mentioning fees are free. Some require registration and have a limit to the number of guests allowed to participate. Times and days vary. All activities, with the exception of the Fishin' Cruise, are NOT supervised.

To piggyback donald@home's comments, DEFINITELY take a trip on the boat. By the time you visit, the larger boat should be in place, which will also be making a stop at SSR on the trip to/from Downtown Disney. You can check out the newest DVC resort while you are out and about.

Trumbo Ferry to DTD Yes!
Rent a boat to explore on your own
Rent bikes.
Walk the resort form one end to the other watching out for 'wildlife' - ducks, rabbits, lizards (some kids just love the lizards), egrets and other water birds, golfers )who can be very entertaining especially when they don't know they are being watched).
Goofy Bingo is great fun. We did it at HH and loved it. (Of course my best friend thought that I was nuts being the only adults there without kids).
The Landscaping tour is great fun too and an opportunity to ask questions. I love to ask questions of the CMs they have so much knowledge.
Enjoy!
