Ah yes, I gotcha now! You're right, that will mean a brighter sky as well, which I hadn't even considered.

Although I think the sky can be pretty interesting sometimes, especially if it's cloudy...

I think I see a moon in there as well. You're right, clouds do make it pretty interesting. Cool shot.

Great thread- you guys have inspired me to lug the tripod along when I go off in another week or so.

Rent a locker for the pod then pull it out when it's time. It makes the experience almost tollerable.

How big are the lockers? How big is your tripod? You might want to make sure that it'll fit before you commit to this course of action.

Switch your camera to manual exposure (your choices should be something like P (program), Av (aperture priority), Tv (shutter priority), and M (manual). In Manual, lower the shutter speed as far as you can. The longest setting should be "bulb." Don't forget to also set the aperture to the value that you want.

Yeah, last time I was there, my tripod did not fit in the MK lockers. However, others have mentioned lockers under the train tracks that may be bigger. I don't have a big tripod, just a basic Manfrotto.

Every time I try to take pics of lights at night, they come out blurry. I've tried every setting, just trying different things. The view screen is really small though. Maybe it just seems like it's blurry? I have a Canon PowerShot S30. Can anyone recommend the correct setting for this or offer advice?

Yeah, that one should certainly be a sticky. One of the most common questions on here, with good reason. Fireworks can be tough when you don't know the settings. That link has alot of great info. I just hope the info there can help me in November! I'm sure it will.

Can we also get a sticky for "what is the best camera in low light"? That, I think is the number one question on here. Probably due to the fact that there are so many great low light opportunities at WDW combined with the millions of point and shoot camera users.

I want to have great photos of the fireworks at the theme parks and for this i know i need a tripod. but i want one that is light, easy to use, portable, fits in my backpack, and cheap, as i'm only going to use it once a year. any recoomendations?

Although not set in stone, I'm partial to f/11.

my camera is only a nomral digital sony cybershot, not a fancy professional one, but it's only seems to go up to f/8? is it just me not being able to work a camera, or do digitals only go up to 8?

I would be surprised if even a cheap digital would not go above F8.

Having said that, I really think trying to shoot fireworks with point and shoot is like "spittin into the wind" Even with my D70 I use a tripod and a remote shutter release because even my finger hitting the button alters the shot.
