Hey all!
After doing the hundreds of hours of research online, in the guides, in the
boards and ending up here, I decided it was time to finally share my
"Disney present" story with those who would enjoy it most.
Let's set the stage...
My girlfriend just graduated from college in December, her birthday is in
February, I'm speaking at a conference at Coronado Springs this month,
and my girlfriend has NEVER been to Disney.
Ever. (sad, ain't it?)
Throw all of those things together - and you've got a magical combination!
I knew about the conference for about 4 months now and KNEW that
if I went down there, I'd have to hit the parks myself. And if I went
without her...well, that's just cruel right?
So I decided to bring her along...and make it a Christmas gift (perfectly
timed with everything else happening in her life). After getting all the
guides, I decided to stick my conference right in the middle of the trip,
so we'd have a little break from being on our feet....and figured I'd get
annual passes and make the trip almost two weeks.
The setup was great.
I knew she was working on handmade things for my gifts, so I kept
telling her how worried I was about mine holding up. For a few months,
she constantly had to reassure me that my gift would be just fine
and that I didn't need to buy her anything else.
Well - I held onto that worry all the way until we opened gifts. So she kept
thinking I was paranoid about my gifts not being good enough.
I even got her tons of "crap" gifts (so she'd have to pretend to be happy)....
1) Old hotel room keys I forgot to return
2) Toy spider
3) Fake credit card I got in the mail
4) Disney daily calendar (hehe)
5) Collage of pictures of us (OOPS! that was supposed to be the last
gift I gave you...darn!)
6) A Disney magazine (told her I saw it on the newstand)
The magazine was last...and as she started flipping through it, she
saw a Post-It Note that said "Go to Peewa.com" (it's her nickname,
based on the name of a blackjack dealer we had this past year...and
it just stuck. don't ask..LOL)
SO...if you go to http://www.peewa.com , you can see what she saw.
In fact, I just "happened" to have my wireless laptop sitting nearby when
she opened gifts.
And in the bottom right of that page...you'll see an itty bitty period, which
is actually a hyperlink. (I only told her about the link if she got the question
answered)
Click it.
And you'll get the FINALE of this great play....the itinerary. (you can
see the countdown...and the pictures of her reaction).
She was literally in shock for the first few days. It took her a week
before it sunk in and she started to get super-excited. Now, she
watches commercials, the Discovery special, the DVD, etc. Over
and over.
And in just a few days...her fantasy will become true!
So there you have it!
A figured if anyone would enjoy the adventure, the DIS gang would.
Enjoy - and please lemme know what ya think!
Thanks,
Chris
<-- trying to figure out how to top this next year
P.S. - Feedback is WELCOME on the itinerary.
