Can anyone give me any info on how a CP participant would ship some of their belongings home at the end of their program? Companies to look into, etc?

Geez how much stuff are you planning on bringing? :rotfl2: lol jk

But I suppose it would depend on how you got there. If you flew, then yeah you will have to do things differently than if you drove.

Having not been on one before I can only guess that those who flew would probably have brought less to begin with than those who drove. But just thinking about myself in that situation, I really cant see taking more than wouldn't be able to fit in 3 large suitcases? 4 maybe. But yeah, that's just me.... and I am a guy... so that probably helps lol.

You will accumulate TONS of stuff on your program! Trust me...

:rotfl2: I flew down and back and I had a ton of stuff, way too much. I had like 4 suitcases on the way down just clothes and bedding. Then there i bought like food, storage things, hangers, a tv, etc... Plus my mom constantly mailed me stuff. On top of that i bought things. Needless to say i had too much junk. My parents visited so i gave them two whole suitcases to take home. And then i flew home by myself and let me tell you my bags were overweight. My boyfriend was like whats in here rocks?

However, there is a UPS store (i think or its the post office) in the plaza by Chatham. There are places around if you know someone with a car or you cant take a cab.

I'm right there with you. I am flying to Florida and will be buying a lot of things the first day I get there. I'm only going to be bringing 2 suitcases. You definitly want to check your airline. Many airlines are now charging for the first bag! Luckily my first bag will be free, but my second will be $25. So I'm bringing the essentials which are my clothes, laptop, printer, alarm clock, my posters, and some DVD's. But thats about it.

Yah there are plenty of stores around. Plus you might want to wait until you get there and look around your apartment. I lived in vista so we needed a lot of stuff but the other apartments are really nice. This time around I think ill drive because i have even more stuff lol.

I don't know if they still do this since I was a CP in 2005, but towards the end of my program they had a huge FedEx or UPS (I forget which) truck come into Vista and we could just pack up our stuff right in front of the club house and they'd take it on the truck. We could buy a few packing supplies for them and had the option to purchase insurance. It was very helpful, especially to those of us without cars!
