Hi everyone! I'm on a major purging spree! Looking to sell old music cd's...is there anyplace you can drop them off and they'll pay you for them?? Only problem is, I got rid of most of the cases and put them in a CD binder...not sure if anyone would want them now??

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

There's a couple good, reputable places online (and some of them pay for shipping depending how many CD's you have to turn in). I googled 'CD buyers' when I was searching and there was one that started with an 'm' that I liked the most. I ended up throwing a lot of them away (after putting them on my iTunes and backing them up) as out of my hundreds of CD's they were only going to pay me $.50-$1.50 for about twenty CD's and I didn't have enough to qualify for free shipping so it wasn't worth the hassle to me.

I don't know that you will get much, if anything, for them without the cases. Probably the easiest thing to do is look up if there is a used music store in your area & take them there. Take whatever they will give you for them, and any they won't buy just toss in the trash. CDs are not worth much any more.

An alternative, if you have any CDs you'd like to own, is to check out www.swapacd.com. You post your CDs for trade & get credits when you send them out, then you can use those credits to request CDs from other users. I think you also get some bonus credits to get you started if you list a certain number of CDs for trade.

Yes, I'm a member, more for their book trading site: Paperbackswap.com. If you list 10 CDs you get one or two free credits which you can then use to get used books instead. :thumbsup2 Or, if you trade out many of your CDs, you can sell them to others who need/want the credits to buy CDs for themselves, using PayPal for payment for the credits.

You do NOT need the cases to swap your CDs at SwapaCD.com. If you do decide to get jewel cases, check out the dollar stores. They are selling jewel case packs now for a dollar as no one wants them anymore. :thumbsup2

If you are just looking to get rid of them, and are not concerned about the money, you may want to look into donating them to a woman's shelter or domestic violence shelter, children's home. My Aunt was running a shelter for children taken from their parents, while waiting to be placed in foster care. So she tried to make it as homey as possible. Board games, movies, music, toys, Kid themed bedding, etc was a welcome donation.

Also, at swapacd.com, once you've traded out the CDs you can transfer the credits into their swapaDVD.com program there. So you can get used books or DVDs.

I'm a member of all three swapping sites - books, CDs, & DVDs. I love that you can transfer credits between the three. I did not know you could sell your credits though, I'll have to look into that. I haven't found anything I want to get in quite a while, so maybe I'll just try to unload my credits for $. Thanks for the heads up!

Check in the Bazaar forums. At PBS, there are several people who advertise in the Book Bazaar. :teacher: People would PayPal you the payment then you just "buddy" them the credits. Since this would be done back & forth through PMs, the system would have a record of the transaction agreements. The very few times someone has tried to scam people, PBS was able to do an investigation :magnify:, following the PM trails and sent back the rightful credits. :thumbsup2
