How to rebook a cruise onboard?

We are going on our first ever cruise in October 2015. I am so convinced we will love it that I have already booked us for December 2016, as well. The price has remained at opening day prices and since it's before the Christmas rush I have reason to believe it will stay that way until we cruise in a few weeks.

Soooo what is the process for rebooking onboard to get the OBC and the 10% discount? We are currently booked through a TA but she has been non-committal about how this should be done. We do really love the specific two rooms we booked and would love to keep them but changing rooms would not be a deal breaker to save all that money. We just need them to be connecting Verandahs.

I have read here that TA's can "reconcile" the two bookings after the fact. But my TA did not seem very excited about the idea and said she hoped it would work out.

Thoughts?

You go to the reservation desk and fill out a form there or see the staff member serving and they will book it for you.

You can ask for a TA to be added there, or transfer after booking within 30 days or choose not to have a TA.

The TA is normally informed in a few weeks but if you know the reservation number let them know

The on board offer, (August 2015)

You get 10% off the cruise fare, and if the cruise is 7 days plus you get a reduced deposit of 10% ( not 20%).

You get on board credit $100 cruises shorter than 7 days and $200 7 days and more.

Dates you cannot book, 'blackout' dates.

Once you book your new reservation, your TA can call DCL and cancel your old reservation and move your room to your new reservation. Any deposit from the old reservation can be transferred to the new reservation or refunded. It would be up to you whether you wanted to keep your TA or not on your new reservation.

Note that you WILL need to make a new deposit, and for a short time (until you return from your cruise and contact your TA) you will actually have 2 reservations. The TA should be able to reconcile the reservations to get the former staterooms assigned to the new reservation.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you so much, everyone! It seems straightforward enough! Thanks especially to Disney Fantasy for the scans!

I believe they allow you to know just make a placeholder ressie for $200 per stateroom with now future date chosen. Has anyone tried that yet?

Correct, you can make a "placeholder" for a $200 deposit. A placeholder doesn't have a specific cruise attached, and you can assign it at any time after you leave the ship, but you must take the cruise within 2 years of the date you were onboard to make the placeholder. I haven't done one yet but it sounds like a very simple process.

Enjoy your cruise!

Yes the place holder is a great new option. However since we already know what cruise we want then we'd like to lock in our rooms and price.
