On our trip last week we encountered several CMs who truly had the Disney magic. I would like their supervisors to know how wonderful they were and how much they added to our trip. With all the bad rap the CMs get these days, I thought it was great that we had so many positive experiences. So, what is the best way to praise these special CMs?

Interested in this too!! I know that CM's get special pins when they reach a certain number of positive guest comment, but like the poster, I'm not sure how to give these comments when you are on vacation in such a large place as WDW. Who would you write to--possibly the management at the specific place where the CM was working, write down the CM's name, date and time and possibly this would do it.:Pinkbounc :earseek:

I'm not sure what you do AFTER your trip. We had an outstanding bus driver one morning from CSR to MGM who had us all singing and laughing. I immediately went to Guest Relations and said I wanted to say something good about a CM! They had a form for me to fill out. There was a family from our bus right next to us doing the same thing! His name was Dan if any of you have ever gotten him!

I believe our trip this last time (2 weeks ago) was the best we've ever had for nice CM's. At their worst we had a few who were pleasant but not out of their way to give us a good time - but several were just outstanding IMO.

Write to Lee Cockerell.

I have encountered some great CM's at AK and a while back I sent an email from the WDW site naming them and what they did to impress me. The email was forwarded to their supervisor's, they were all called into the supervisor's office, showed the email and given a pin (it has a name, I just can't remember it, it was like a good service pin or something). One of the CM's that is a Camp Counsoler in Camp Minnie Mickey saw me a few weeks later and gave a hug and told me it was the best thing that happened to him in his 13 years of working there. That made me feel so good. So if you encounter a CM's that has made your visit magical, please let someone at WDW know.

When we encounter those wonderful CMs, I whip out the old digital camera and take a quick pic of the CM with my two girls. Once home, I print out the pic, write a note about our great experience with the CM and what his/her name was, let the girlies add to it and drop it in the mail!
I will now also be going to guest services and maybe also e-mailing my pic and letter. Too much can never be enough!

There's also a pin you can get your self that I read about in Disney Magazine. It's a WWWD pin. (Stands for What Would Walt Do?) I can't remember the web site to get them though. Anyone else know?

Somehow I missed that in the magazine. Interesting that they would indorse it since their policy is the CM's can wear it. (Or so I was told by 2 CM's)

I always send a "Dear Mickey" letter after each trip via email to guest relations (link of WDW site). I usually get a call from the Exec offices thanking me and discussing my trip with me in detail. Michelle at the Exec offices is a doll to talk to!:earsboy:

You are so sweet to do this!! The CM's definitely hear about these letters and REALLY appreciate them!! These letters go in their files!! Be sure to include the CM's name, the date and place of the special interaction and what happened. If you don't know the CM's name because he/she is a character, then tell which character it is , the date, the place and the TIME the CM was 'on stage' and the 'magic' that occured. (the TIME can be VERY important because on some days several CM's may rotate in the same role) If you have an identifiable picture, that can be a big help. Sometimes the CM's even get copies of the letters and pictures to keep.

We used to right letters and then found out after sending quite a few and following up with the CM if they ever heard anything...and hearing that they never did....we began our own pins...

It has worked out great...the CM love them and we have been doing it for a few years now and some CM are even aware of us and our pins...

Please don't let Zurgswife's info discourage you from sending letters of commendation for the CM's!!!! I understand how depressing it is to send letters and then find out the CM didn't get them. This should never happen --but it obviously does.; however, my DD is a CM and WDW managers have 'tracked her down' numerous times to give her letters, pictures, drawings etc--so much of the time they do get your message. Perhaps things vary from park to park--or in the resorts--but even if the CM doesn't see the letter, it is put into his/her file--and this is VERY important. The pins Zursgswife made and the WWWD pins are WONDERFUL--definitely something the CM's LOVE-- so if you have a special pin when you are interacting with the CM, definitely give it to them. Just know that the pins do NOT take the place of commendation letters in their folders. :D :D :D

I just talked to DD and we were discussing this thread. She wants me to tell you all that the CM's tremendously appreciate your letters!!!! DD says that sometimes it takes up to 5 or 6 months for the letters to work their way through the proper channels and reach their hands--but that every effort is made to connect the right CM with the letters. Including every bit of info you have about the CM and the magical encounter will greatly help the process. DD works at MK and she says that frequently copies of your letters are posted on the tunnel walls for everyone to read. This positive reinforcement is great for CM morale!! Thank you to all of you who take the time to do this!!:D :D :D

I will definitely be letting 4 special CMs (and their superiors) know how much I appreciated the Disney magic they shared with our family!
