I noticed that some of you have trips planned for next year. How do you book it? I am thinking of a Jan 2008 trip for DS's 5th b'day. Of course, I'd LOVE to go before then, as the free dining plan is calling my name :teeth: But if I could get a trip plan started I would feel a lot happier

How do I go about planning future trips (the WDW site doesn't let you plan that far out).

I have the same question, so I am just subscribing to this thread...

I was wondering the same thing. We're probably going in Jan 2008 also. I keep checking every couple weeks but the Disney Site isn't even letting me put in dates for Jan 2007 yet (just to get a ballpark).

This is the 1st time I'm planning a large group trip and I'm having the same trouble. I read in the Disney books to start 1 year ahead, but I want hotel, tickets and Dining and you have to do that as a package. They tell me it will be July or August 2006 before I can do that. I guess all you can do is what I've done. I have approximate dates; picked my lodging(French Quarter), and character meals we want and now I'm just waiting. I would guess you couldn't reserve anything until summer of 2007 for 2008. I'm having fun planning though- just call me the "Grand Planner-I'm earning my ears!!" :cheer2:

We booked for Jan. '07 over a year ahead of time.. I called Disney directly and they said they can book 500 days out. They didn't have the rates yet for our dates of travel, so it was temporarily quoted as regular season 2006 rates. When the rates for value season 2007 come out, it will change to those rates and we are going to apply AAA discount at some point.

I know a lot of people wouldn't want to book so far in advance, but we wanted to start paying for it a little bit at a time so that we wouldn't fritter away money that was specially earmarked for Disney. Now we've paid off the room and we have set aside enough in our savings for food.. now airfare and tickets next ;)

I started planning our Jan '06 trip in Sept '04. I didn't actually book anything until May '05 though. But like a previous poster said I could have booked at 500 days out at the current rate.

As far as budgeting for a trip that far out I just priced the type room and ticket days in Value season for 2005 and added 5% to it. It actually came pretty close to our pre-discount rate...discounts came out 11/1/05 for Jan 1- mid Feb '06.

I hope this helps!!

I really like this idea. We are planning on going in Feb 07. My only problem with it would be if we decided to change to a package (dreaming of a code or great deal!) or even to AAA rate. I know that there are only a certain amount of rooms set aside for bargains. Could our reservations be just upgraded from room to package, or would we have to start all over after a refund? Seems like if I book with Disney now, but then change to AAA agent to get a AAA package, they would want payment all over and I'd have to wait for my money to come back from Disney. How much of a pain is it to do this?

Thanks

Planning a trip in 2008 not sure what month but would love to start booking now so I know that I already paid the money and have to go. :cool1:

I will be in the World on March 3, 2007, and started planning about a month and a half ago. I contacted Dreams Unlimited and I reserved a package for later this year during peak season (to get close to the same price that it will be when I'm really traveling). My agent, Sue Ellen, will change my reservation to March '07 as soon as the package prices come out. She said that way my deposit is transferrable. Evidently, if you just reserve a room (which you can do now), and then switch to a package, you'll have to put down another deposit (the first one would be refunded).

Good luck![/

You can add the AAA discount (or a code for room-only) to your room-only reservation when it comes out- that is what we are planning to do. But if you want to change to a package, you would have to cancel and re-book (that's what I was told by a few different CMs, so I think that is the case).
Have fun planning! :thumbsup2
