How to make this work?

My kids **may** have talked DH in to going to WDW this summer and now I'm sitting at home with the flu, trying to figure out how to make it feasible.

We would have a maximum of 7 nights and 6 days. DH does not like everything to be super-planned and prefers to be more laid-back, with plenty of resort time. He will also want to do a day at the beach. The kids and I went last year and, for the first time, went to a Disney waterpark (BB) and LOVED it, so that's a must. I'm thinking one park per day, plus a beach day, plus a day at BB, doesn't really leave a lot of downtime, nor does it really give us much value for adding the WP option. I can't think of a park that we'd be happy cutting out altogether, as HS used to be our least favorite, but my boys and I loved it last year (they participated in JTA, on July 4th!).

At this point I'm wondering if my best bet would be just a 4 day base ticket, purchase the WP tickets separately? Still, doesn't leave much downtime at the resort. Any thoughts?

Maybe book a resort like Beach Club/Yacht Club that has stormalong bay which looks quite big and may take the need of BB out of the equation. and since the pools are sand bottomed you may get that beachy feel too. You can do mornings at the park, come back to the resort during the day and swim, then go back to the park at night.

I personally would not do a full day at a water park. Maybe do a half day in the morning and let your DH sleep in and enjoy the resort while you and the kids go? Then head to a park in the afternoon/evening.

The suggestion of staying at Beach or Yacht is great too. We stayed there last trip and did not do a water park. The pool is great - nice slide, lazy river and a sandy bottom. We don't do a ton of resort time, but we are able to get a fair amount in by heading to a park early and taking a long midday break, then going to a park that night.

Came here to recommend Beach Club as well.

That pool is just like a water park and is just like a beach. You'd get the best of both worlds: water park and beach... well—best of three worlds: water park, beach and resort downtime!

I like this idea, but not sure I will sell DH on it. We took the boat from HS to BC in 2015 and had ice cream at B&C and he hated it. He thought it was stuffy and boring. We had such a better time last year without worrying about his preferences, lol. He is difficult to please.

We could do an evening after the waterpark, we did MK last year. But that would be additional. I'd cut out the beach day altogether if it was up to me. I love the beach, but I'd rather it be a separate trip. That's a requirement for DH, though, and he actually loves waterparks.

What about this? If you are going to add the water park, add the Park Hopper Water Park and More. Then you would be able to bounce around all you want. I would break my days up like this: 2 Days MK, 1 Day AK, Beach Day, 1 Day EPCOT, 1/2 Day HS, 1/2 Day Water Park. Or possibly "bookend" the trip with the 2 MK days. However, MK and EPCOT are our favorite parks and HS is our least favorite. If you and yours really love Studios then maybe break it into 1 and 1/2 days MK and a full day at Studios.

Actually now that I look at it, the above wouldn't really require hoppers but they would still give you much more flexibility (which would be a great selling point for DH, sounds like!)

Fortunately, in our home, I am the WDW fanatic and DH and the kiddos have adopted a "Yes, Dear" mentality -- if Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. ROTFL!!! :) :)

check out undercover tourist - they had been offering a 7day Hopper for the price of a 4 day.

I would cut out a park if you need more time. I'm assuming you want MK, DHS and AK (to see Pandora)
Maybe cut out Epcot

Since your husband is the hard to please one, have him suggest how many park days and if he wants BB and the beach. Wanting a laid back vacation still requires planning and if he's the one who will be the most vocal about not liking the plan, then I'd put it on him.

That being said, if I were to suggest an option... I would put your beach day in the middle, that will help to break up the more busy park days. And perhaps forego BB and just have a resort pool day. I would even consider adding a 5th park day for that rest day evening or you could add in a nice dinner and some shopping at DS. That would likely be a more laid back day than a full day in a water park.
