How to make the most for an 8 y/o and 3y/o?

August of next year we are taking our first family trip to WDW. We were going to renew our vows, but the only venue we can get is the wedding pavillion for $4500. So we decided that we would just take a week long vacation in the Magic Kingdom.

What my question is, what kinds of things are available to make our trip for our kids the most memorable. Hannah (7) I think will get the biggest kick out of it because of her age, but we want Alexis (2) to have a good time with it as well. How do you organize the breakfasts with the characters and stuff? These are the activities we would like to provide for our kids while we are their. Also is there any kind of childcare while we are there. I would love to be able to take my wife out for 1 night while we are there. I know an awful thought to do while we are in the land of kids.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You should read Mary's link at mousesavers.com and buy any guide book sold in a book store. Both have any and all information about WDW.

To book character breakfasts, call 407 WDW DINE 90 days prior to your arrival. If you are interested in the Cinderella Castle breakfast, it is THE HARDEST one to reserve. You have to start calling at exactly 7:00am at the 90 day mark. You should have everyone you know call for you - it's that hard to reserve!

By the way, at the Garden Grill in The Land at Epcot, the have a "re-hitching" ceremony. I've never done it, but others here on the boards have. Very simple, informal ceremony you could do while at the Ice Cream Social or dinner. Ice Cream Social is a great deal $6.99 per person for very large sundaes. Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale are there.

Ooops, forgot you other question. Depending on where you are staying, many hotels (mostly the deluxes I think) have a child care service. We were just at WL and the have the Cubs Den. I think it is like $10/hour. The Poly has the Neverland Club which I think is the best. There is also the Fairy Godmother service (called something like that) where the sitter comes to your room. Don't feel bad, many parents take advantage of these services otherwise they wouldn't exsist!

On our first trip to WDW as a family my DD's were 2 and 8..so I know exaclty how you feel. Believe it or not it was great. We did have to split somethings up as DD2 was more interested in some of character interactions while DD8 was doing rides. But there are several things they could do together which they enjoyed as well.

Also to add to what someone else mentioned..besides the Child Sitting services at the Deluxe Resorts...if you have Conceirge at these resorts they will book your dining for you...and they will be able to get Cinderellas Royal Table for you( one of the perks of having conceirge )

You can also renew your vows at The Garden Grill in EPCOT - not quite the same as the wedding pavillion, but it's fun and a lot less $$$. (DH & I did it last anniversary (#16) )
