How to make Room Requests

Has anyone had any problems making room requests? I am going to the online checkin under my MDE; and the section where I previously would have made room requests is greyed out. We are currently about 75ish days out from our trip; and my sister is able to make her room requests for her room, and has been for months. I'd rather not have to call to make the basic room requests that are usually available. We have a split stay, and both check are having this issue.

I email MS for room requests unless I have to call them for something else and then I'll do it at the same time on the phone. I emailed a room request last week and had a response it was done in less than 24 hours.
 
The ones via MDE are pretty generic and honestly, it’s better to just use chat or send an email to DVC and skip them on the online check in form.
I agree! Chat, email, or as a last resort (or if you have another reason, as Kathy says), call.
 

I email. I sent one for my VGC early December stat on Thursday evening, got a reply this afternoon that it was noted.
 
I had the grayed out too......I just wanted a ground floor, one night before a cruise.
emailed, they noted the request.....but we didn't get it. OKW

Used chat, thanks everyone for the responses. They didn't know why it was greyed out, but we're able to take my requests.
 
Maybe not relevant to OP, but I am 0 for 2 in room requests. Small sample size for sure, but make request with the understanding there is a good chance it won't be honored.

Last week we requested upper floor far from elevators. We were on the ground floor, very first room after the elevators 😜

That's similar to what happened to us. Got almost exact opposite of what was requested.

I have literally never had any room requests I’ve made in advance or through the app get fulfilled. Usually I get the exact opposite of my requests, and usually my requests are simply “Arusha Savanna View, please.”

The only time I got a room request was at the Treehouse Villa, was checking in in person, and mentioned how this was a family reunion and our request to be near the River and near a bus stop. The CM noted “we had been given the exact opposite of that - nowhere near the River and the furthest from the bus stops - and was at least able to move us to a river view in between two bus stops.
 
Once BW view became a booking category, we pretty much stopped making location requests, but for our family trip last Christmas I put a “traveling with” notation on our two 2BR P/G view villas and requested a view of the quiet pool. We got the ones on the ground floor, next to each other, on the wing nearest to DHS! Great location for getting to our RotR BGs, which were both first thing in the morning thanks to the skills of our younger family members.
 
How do Chat or Email seem to be compared to each other? I've done chat a few times, and gotten pretty much what I requested. Rather than going with Chat again (Why not? I don't know), I went with Email for my upcoming trip. We'll see.

It doesn't make a difference how you put in the request. As long as it is noted on your reservation you have the same chance of having it met (or not).
