I think you need PhotoShop....but thats all I know

You can use paint shop, photoshop and even mspaint [but its really hard with mspaint].

I am an avatar icon maker. But I make very high quality high res icons. They can't be used as avatars here. so I'm probably not much help to you.

You can use any programme software you just have to know how to use it. I use ULEAD Photo editor! It came with my digi cam. Its really useful you just have to know how to use it is all. I dont actually make avatars. ive never tried. I make wallpapers..

BUt you can use adobe photoshop, thats a good programme
