How to make $2000 in 6 months?

Let your extended family know of the plan. My nephew is saving for his family to go to WDW. I don't sent presents, I send Disney gift cards: Christmas, birthdays, anniversary, whatever. Maybe you should rethink your strategy and try saving $2000 instead of making.

Do you have decent credit? Direct deposit?

I’ve earned over $2K in the past two weeks just from credit card sign up bonuses. Check out the I Love Credit Cards thread. I also churn bank accounts, to a lower degree. This works best if you have direct deposit, which is a requirement for some. Without a ton of effort (IMO), I make about $2K-$3K a year in bank bonuses and maybe $6K (including travel benefits) in credit card bonuses.

Can you also work on reducing expenses? Some of the things I have done are:

- Cut cable
- Reshop home and car insurance
- Reshop cell phone service (I eliminated personal and just do work, my husband buys used iPhones every few years and uses Straight Talk)
- Optimize grocery purchases. I did a spreadsheet comparing Costco and Kroger so I can do a monthly Costco trip for tortillas, butter, cheese, etc now that I understand the prices
-ibotta and shopping grocery sales/planning ahead (amazing how much we save by selecting produce and meat based on what is on sale)
- Class action lawsuits. There is a website that lists all open ones. Many don’t require proof of purchase. I always find some that apply to me and probably make $50-$100 a year through that

There are some PC days coming up next week - it might be worth checking out to see what is being offered. Do you qualify for the pc credit card? its good for points, but only if you pay it off. I'm selling a bunch of items on the fb mom's site, planning meals around cheap items, stocking up at Costco. We also have an international student which assists, if you have extra space. I've also taken a few hobbies and have a fb page for one and an etsy shop for the other -but they take time to build a following....

Never thought of it actually! How does that normally work? Pop in twice a day to feed/water/let them out etc?

I think it depends on the job. Some are as simple as feed/water/let out while others require actually playing with the animal for some specified time.

If I am going to take the kids in September, I need to come up with $2000. But how do I do that? I'm a WAHM mother (columnist for two papers), and I homeschool our two special needs children. So, taking a part time job out of the home is not an option.

I should be able to get the following:
- Our spring yard & lemonade sale will probably earn us $250
- Ask for Disney gift cards for my birthday (this spring) will probably get me $150
- Redeeming PC Points from our credit card between now and then will probably get me $150
- Redeeming pop cans/bottles etc... will maybe earn us $25

Other tips, ideas? We're in Canada.

Did you achieve your goal the previous time you made a thread like this? I remember there was a possible baking project.

No, all our bills are as low as they can get, we're pretty careful with stuff like that. Definitely could cut back on eating out a bit.
No. Eliminate eating out completely.
- Class action lawsuits. There is a website that lists all open ones. Many don’t require proof of purchase. I always find some that apply to me and probably make $50-$100 a year through that
Unlikely to recieve any payout by September. I'm still waiting on the tuna and milk class action results...

I've earned $63 on Ibotta since October, and that's with me barely trying. I'm sure if you could actually sit down with the flyers, coupon, and Ibotta app you could come up with some great deals to save money.
I second ibotta! I use it for all my shopping needs! I check there first before I go shopping for anything!

Can you sell things around your house? Review your monthly bills, cable tv, auto insurance, internet, etc and see if you can get them lower?

what is the website?
Not sure if I can post a link here, but just google “class action lawsuits” and it should be right there. It takes a while to get paid, but I always enjoy a surprise check in the mail! Sometimes there are higher dollar ones - there was one for a magazine my dad subscribed to for $75 recently!

Couponing for everything, then pay yourself what you save with the coupons... not just grocery's but oil changes, eating out, shopping...

Do an inventory of your pantry, freezer- then create a meal plan for 2 weeks, make sure to check out your local grocery store ad... as well as target ( cartwheels ap) and wal-mart ( I saved 24 dollar this week on my monthly trip to wal-mart with my coupons) - match any store coupons and manufacture's coupons for extra saving... make a list... live by the list when you are in the grocery store...

2 for 1 meals - make a large pot of spaghetti, one night spaghetti, and another night you can do baked spaghetti... when I make anything with pasta, I cook the whole box, and whatever I don't use for dinner, I make pasta salad, or add to soup for lunch.

Do you have Aldi in Canada? this is a great place to cut your food bill way down...

I don't know if its possible for your DH to take his lunch... this can save a ton of cash weekly...

Ebay - clothing especially kids clothing sells fairly well, as long as its in good condition... might net you more that at a garage sale.

Check out consignment shops, my DD does really well, at kids to kids or kids connection or whatever it is called... she normally makes around 30 to 40 bucks on DGS clothing, shoes, toys, all in great condition...

My friend does the dog walking gig... she was helping out a neighbor when they had to leave town in a emergency and did not have anyone to watch their dog... now she has a few neighbors that she takes care of their dogs it just sorta happened, and she charges different prices, for different things... one lady who lives alone, she works from home and travels alot... she pays her a flat 300.00 a month for dog care, some months she might be traveling for a week and the next month 3 weeks she only takes care of the dog when the neighbor is out of town..., she has a couple of neighbors that she goes over lets the dog out, and makes sure they have water, and food... for 40 or 50 a week... Then she will dog sit when people go on vacation... she charges around 20.00 a day, and some times more if the neighbors want something extra...

Sending pixie dust your way... pixiedust:

Someone mentioned a baking project. A friend of mine makes pumpkin rolls every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She limits it to 75 each holiday and charges $15 each for them, and she always has a waiting list. Granted, it isn't close to those holidays, but Valentines Day and Easter are coming up, you could do something for those, and also graduation parties in May. Another friend makes cakes and/or cupcakes, and I think we paid $50 for 2 dozen cupcakes for DS' bday one year. It would take longer, but if you're good at it, it would be worth a try.

We don't have Aldi in Canada, too bad :(

We also don't have Ibotta but we do have Checkout 51. I just cashed in for $36 and it didn't take me very long. Also I earn ebates cash back. I collect PC Points and we have the PC M/C (World Elite) so maybe look into that? We quite frequently make big redemptions for our points. While you can no longer buy gift cards with your points, I put gift cards in with my shopping trip so the points redeemed go towards the groceries and I "pay" for the gift cards, if that makes sense. Now that Shoppers Drug Mart is also part of the PC points (sorry, Optimum Points lol) family, there are more chances to earn. We also only fill up at Esso or Superstore for gas to get even more points. While Costco is usually the cheapest, with our card we get 7 cents off a litre which, 95% of the time, makes it cheaper than Costco. I don't know where you are in Canada but we are in BC so shopping around for cheaper car insurance isn't an option since we have the horrible monopoly that is ICBC.
