my DD gave me a magic band she wasnt going to use I have a wonderful DD

anyways since its been so long since we were at the world how to I link my band

we dont have tickets as were just planning a resort stay we might just buy tickets one day and go

but for now I just need to link my band to MDE account

thanks

First, how did she get the MB?
Did she buy it?
If yes, Has she ever linked it to her MDE account?
If No, you click the Link option in MDE and follow the prompt to link a Magic Band
If she got it as part of a resort stay and it's already assigned to her, you can't use it. Once it's connected to a guest, it's their's. They can't be transferred to another guest.

If it is an old band of hers, you can’t use it. Once linked to someone, bands can’t be transferred to anyone else.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry about all the questions it brought up. First it’s a new band. So it hasn’t been linked to her. After I log into MDE where do I go to add it. Also this brought up another question. Both of us have 2 basic bands they were linked last time which was Jan of 20 now do I need to do anything or are the bands still good and ready to go. Do I need to delete my other bands so just this new one is in my MDE can I just leave my DH the way it is. Thanks

If using the MDE website, select "My MagicBands and Cards" from the MyDisneyExperience dropdown menu the scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Link". On the next screen, click "Select" in the MagicBand tile. On the next screen, you enter the 12 character code on the back of the MB then click "Next" and select who it will be assigned to.

As for existing MBs linked to your profile, you can't delete them. All MagicBands linked to your profile can be used interchangeably as long as the are marked as "Active" on the MagicBands & Cards page.

Well you made me look… I have 30 MagicBands currently!
Only one is active but I can select Activate/ Deactivate or report Lost / Found.
I usually chose to wait and get them at the front desk to verify they are correct and I am wearing the correct Band … but not a requirement .
I finally broke down and purchased one The 50th Anniversary design . I do like wearing this band because it makes me happy and it is pretty but I worry about it and constantly check that the pretty gold slider has not fallen off! I am finally at the point that I have gotten the enjoyment out of it and would be able to live with w/ or without the slider. I think.
I mention the front desk because I have gotten many stern “suggestions” that I should deactivate them and that is causing some of my tech issues . It slows down (? ) if MDE is searching for the current one that I am actually using . So I deactivated all of them but have not reported them Lost . But I still have them just in case.

I also want to mention that I think it is kinda sneaky of Disney to automatically tell me I need a new MB everytime I make a new resort reservation . As if they are trying to fool me into buying a new one ?
Does that irritate anybody else?
Don’t you just love a more confusing response to your simple question? Haha

Eh, I think the "too many MB" is just a scapegoat.
I mean, the MB can't argue back that it's not at fault.
30 is nothing.
I have WAAAAAY more than that.
Majority of which are active. And work just fine. I've only disabled the really old original bands. Or ones that have broken
Every single one of them work in the parks, at turnstiles, purchasing, LL, etc.
Room access is the only area where it may or may not work. The resorts do have their own data bases of room access and your bands have to be loaded in such a way that you can access the room with them. It somehow uses the serial numbers on them to do this. This is where the number of bands comes in to play. I suppose only so many can be loaded on a given Resorts system? No clue really, just sort of a guess on my part. What I do is bring a few on a given trip, by whatever matches the outfits on that trip. Along with my phone. The newest version of MDE seems to be most consistent in working to open the room door, so I'll use that if none of the bands work. Usually at least one of them will. I'll check all the bands I've brought. If I really need to get one of them fixed to open the door, I'll go by the desk to have them load that band to the resort system. Most of the time, I'll just use my phone the day I wear that band when I enter the room and not worry with it.

I don't see anywhere that Disney is telling us we "need" a new MB with each new resort reservation. The wording is that they are "offered for purchase".

So no, it doesn't bother me at all!
