Might be going to POFQ next month, but I just heard that the boats between the resorts and DS had not been running lately because of a lack of water. I believe they are running now due to the rain that they had.

Question: How would I know in advance if indeed they are running or if they had been halted. Without calling the resorts, I had been looking online for any articles or comments about this and found none.

I'm guessing the only way is to actually call the resorts? We know how sometimes that can go with wrong information.

TIA.

You can't call the resorts directly. All phone numbers go to a call center and not the individual resort. Best you can do is follow the discussion here on DIS or other online Blogs or WDW news / information sites.

May thru early to mid June is the period when there are possible issues with low water levels on the artificial waterway in question. Once the rainy season kicks in it is "smooth sailing" until the next year.

does this happen every year?
It happened this year and last year at around the same time.

I remember talk over the years about the possibility that the boats would stop running due to low water levels, so the potential for closures is always there when it hasn’t rained in awhile.

I thought I read a day ago that they were back up and operational??? But I agree, best thing is to call the resort and hope the person who answers can get information from the hotel directly!

Impossible to call the hotel directly.
Exactly, why I said "call the resort and hope the person who answers can get information from the hotel directly" . The phone operators can call the hotel directly to get information they may not know and then relay it to a guest.

Central FL has been getting rain regularly and is in their afternoon rains, so you do not have to worry about the water levels. I would be more worried about the heat. LOL Today is already 91 with the heat index at 100 degrees o_O
