HOw do you keep your water cold walking around the parks?

Or do you keep getting cold ones when you need it?

i usually drink my water fairly fast; therefore, it stays cold. when i am ready for another i have to buy one. :earboy2:

If you bring your own and have access to a freezer, freeze it first.

Since we live here, this is what we do. I'll freeze water bottles and wrap them in paper towels to keep them from condensing all over everything in my backpack.

Usually we don't care about keeping water cold, though, and just drink it warm.

We use those insulated carriers that come with the plastic bottles that are larger than an average water bottle. We fill them with ice in the morning and pour in the cold bottled water that we have kept on ice in a cooler. We usually go in June and this has always worked for us, the water has always stayed cold. Good luck and have fun! :flower:

I don't mind if the water isn't icy cold. If it's that hot out, you won't be carrying around a full bottle for long anway.

We are used to drinking bottled water and don't consider it an unnecessary or extra expense--I would rather buy water than drink soda or juices all day for the same $. We prefer water.

We always buy the bottles of water as we go along. I drink pretty much the entire bottle as soon as I buy it, then just buy another when I am thirsty again. Of course, sometimes dh and dd help me out and we all "share" a bottle so it's easy to drink the whole thing, but I know that not everyone would be comfortable with that.

We can't drink water that isn't fairly cold, so we just buy one when we need it. It's more expensive, but this way we know the water will always be ice cold!

I have had good luck freezing a half bottle of water. When you take it out in the morning, fill it the rest of the way with cold water. That way, if you're thirsty before the ice melts, you'll still have cold water to drink.

We always freeze ours the night before and then carry them with us...by the time we are getting thirsty....they are thawed enough to drink. We put them in our backpack wrapped in something (just as the other poster said) so they don't saturate anything else in the bag. We just bought a 24 pack of bottled water here (with the spout type lid on the top) for around 6 bucks at Sam's. We cannot justify paying $3.00 a bottle at the parks for it. We would spend about $30.00 a day in water alone...lol (the water from the drinking fountains is a nice way to refill also!) None of us drink any type of soda so this is us for the whole day there at the parks...

have fun...

We freeze water bottles the night before and then I wrap each in a clean heavy sock - white athletic ones for the conservative - hot pink if I feel frivolous. Absorbes the condensation, keeps other stuff dry and you, too!!!

We usually just keep one in our backpack for emergencies because we don't like warm water. We always buy icy cold ones when we need them.

We refilled our Brita bottles at the water fountains and started out with a bottle of ice in the morning, if we had ice left at lunch we'd put it in the bottle. We put a sock over the Brita (insulated thing we had was too big for it and one was too small) so it didn't get everything in the backpack wet.

I bought one of those hydration backpacks before our trip and was a little nervous about it, but it was truly a great purchase (thirty bucks at Target). The bladder inside the backpack will hold two liters (if memory serves me). I would fill the bladder with ice from the hotel ice machine and then pour in one bottle of water. I would also throw an unopened, room temperature bottle into the backpack. Sometime just before lunch I would need to add the unopened bottle and there was enough ice left to chill the extra water down.

It was awesome because everytime there was some down-time or walking time I would take a sip from the backpack and I stayed very hydrated. If I relied on stopping to buy water I'm afraid I would have been more dehydrated because it is hard for me to stop long enough to buy water and drink it when there is so much going on in the parks. DW shared with me and I think it worked out well. Another nice part was the icy water very close to my back also cooled me somewhat. This was the last week of August and it was plenty hot.

This might not be a solution for everyone, but I am a fan now. Another neat feature was all the zippered compartments in the backpack. We packed sunscreen, small personal fans, and other assorted items in the backpack (and DW loved the fact that I was the one carrying it :teeth: )

Any CM selling fountain drinks will be happy to give you ice water from their soda fountain. That way you don't have to spend $$ or use the water fountains as some tend to have that weird taste, and you'll still have cold water to drink! I've done that at DL.
