How to keep an autograph mat safe through the cruise

Sorry of this has already been discussed, but this will be our first cruise and I am wanting to bring an autograph mat on board for the characters to sign. I have read that there are impromptu character meet and greets, which means I will be lugging this mat for the whole cruise. Any suggestions or advice on how to keep it from being bent/damaged? OR and easy way to transport to keep my sanity?

How big is it? Will it fit in a laptop neoprene case, maybe with cardboard or bristol board around it?

It's about 12x14...i like the neoprene idea

I recently gave out these as my fish extender gift. They came in a plastic sleeve. You could find one of these at an art store or a craft store most likely. Also carrying it bag would help. If you could not find one of the plastic sleeves that are made for it then you could get an oversized Ziploc. I like having our sleeve because we kept our sharpies in it as well.
