How to hide trip from DW?

In regards to the wife's reaction. My DD and I have talked about it several times. We are undecided exactly how she will respond. We both agree that if she is shocked/displeased, it won't last long. She will likely be most worried about "the kids". This will be our 1st vacation without kids since my DD was born in April 1985. To be exact, our last vacation without kids was July 1984... ;-)

I hope you and your wife have a great time. Your kids at 20 and 17 should be okay for the week, especially since your 20 yr old is willing to stay home with her brother for the week.

Enjoy and have fun. I wish my DH would do this for me some day.

I was feeling really good about my idea, then I read Manda's position.

Manda - If your DH purchased a winning lottery ticket and decided spend a small percentage of the money to take you on a vacation, would it change your position? No, I didn't hit the lottery - just trying to take money out of the equation.

DISers - If your significant other did what I want to do - what would your respsonse be?

I would be thrilled - like I said in previous reply - wish there were more guys out there like you and like everyone else has said, you know your wife and how she would react. Obviously since you're planning this, you already know she would be THRILLED!!!

Don't be concerned about a convention at CR. There are often conventions going on at CR, GF, YC, CSR, Swan...... We've stayed at CR (and others!) while a convention was there and it won't inconvenience you at all.
