To answer most of the questions so far...
1. When and where - The trip is planned for the week after Thanksgiving. Staying at the CR, since that is where we stayed on our honeymoon. On our honeymoon we stayed in the south wing on the 1st floor, we were able to open the sliding glass door and see the water parade from our room. As I best remember the water wasn't more then 20-30 feet from our patio. On this trip I have a hold on a wing room. It is the only room that is available short of concierge - which isn't for us. According to a CM that I talked to, the south wing is currently closed for refurbishment. They hope to have it re-opened by Thanksgiving, but apparently the rooms are not in the system just in case reconstruction runs long. Additionally, apparently a convention of some sort must be occurring the week after Thanksgiving which has taken all of the available rooms (this is a concerning to me).
2. Mini-wedding cake. I hadn't heard about that. I'll have to investigate.
3. Paying the deposit with a money order. You are correct, I can pay the deposit (and more) via a money order as long as it gets there in time.
4. Blown surprise? While my wife enjoys going to WDW, she leaves the planning to me. Additionally, while my job entails being actively involved with computers, she only uses a computer when she has too. She is a stay at home mom, yes our kids are 17 and 20, and has been shielded from the business world where you would be hard-pressed to succeed without computers.
5. Wearing Mickey Ears. I am a BIG fan of the mouse, but wearing ears is very unlikely
6. Buying airline tickets via WDTC. I considered that route. WDTC could only get me on 1 flight late in the day, and the price was approx 50% higher than the tickets I intend on buying. I have confirmed with an airline that paying cash will likely trigger a red flag, but having a friend buy the tickets is ok.
Thanks for all of your support. I need to make a final decision soon. IE: Buy the airline tickets. Once I buy them, there is no turning back...
In regards to the wife's reaction. My DD and I have talked about it several times. We are undecided exactly how she will respond. We both agree that if she is shocked/displeased, it won't last long. She will likely be most worried about "the kids". This will be our 1st vacation without kids since my DD was born in April 1985. To be exact, our last vacation without kids was July 1984... ;-)
