Hope this is helpful. I know I personally do not care to know when my friends comment on THEIR friends statuses, pics, etc. when I don't know the third party.

i just joined for business reasons and took on 14 friends but I don't have any desire to see whjat my friends' friends' friends "like" or don't like either. I need a teen ager to help me edit my page AND Mark Zuckerberg needs to do some personal face time with real people.

I don't know about the firefox instructions. That sounds pretty weird. I used the "F.B. purity" add on and it is completely customizable, so you can see what you like and get rid of what you don't (the ticker for me, for example). Also "adblock plus" is the most wonderful add on EVER, no more embarrassing, weird ads.

It's new in the last few days, on the right hand side, and basically tells you any time any of your friends does anything on facebook.

Also if you hover over one of your friend's names a box will come up with an option to "subscribe" When you put your cursor on the subscribe box you can choose to not see their likes and comments. That way you won't see what they are "liking" and commenting on in that little ticker box!

Yes! I love this add-on/ I have Adblock Plus for Firefox (free), it blocks the ticker as well.

Also blocks all the banner ads on sites like Dis, YouTube, Yahoo, etc.

I didn't install it just for the new Facebook stuff, just noticed that it is blocked.

Seems easier than all that greasemonkey, user script stuff in the article (though I just read it, didn't try it...)
