How to help new cruisers?

Confused, this site was always helpful when I was new to cruising, learned a bunch of great information that I know has directly led to me saving thousands of dollars between Costco and target red cards... And experiences and tips I never would have known otherwise like signed items....So when it comes time to help out new cruisers with questions that I can answer when I can and try to answer as honestly as possible....

But lately it's been harder, specifically bc of this war on social media. Like I posted before I get the reason behind it, but you have to offer a transition period or some understanding as you implement the policy that came into effect over the fall, unfortunately since this specific cruise is less than 50 days away, the planning for an upcoming cruise probably started for most cruisers months before that.....Let me say I'm not the organizer of another site, or another FE... I'm not even registered for the FE, just an experienced cruiser who happened to look at our meet thread....

Here is what I found, a meet thread that seemed to indicate an fe was organized months ago, before the change in policy here, so what was previously 5 pages of information is down to two.... And what it shows is that an FE is being organized but at some point in August it goes blank bc they probably decided to use other forms to collect data and all those posts were deleted bc of the new policy....but at the end there was a more recent post by a brand new cruiser (two posts in history) asking about FE info who never got responded too who probably wouldn't bc everyone who is organizing probably doesn't even realize it's there....

So i posted this.... "Welcome, unfortunately the FE was created for the magic western Caribbean (month),(day),(year) prior to the policy stated above so lots of posts were removed, so you will need to search for it, last I saw about 38 people signed up....Good Luck"

Why did I post this, bc to the new cruiser the first page of the thread reads like an FE is being started but with out the middle context it just appears that they are being ignored or left out.... I'm sorry but trying to help someone new I thought was the point of this site, and this new cruiser probably doesn't know of all the changes, who probably wonders why they're being excluded... they just wanted to try out a meet, I didn't posts any links or any directions, just pointing out the facts.... Yet I received a 40pt infraction for this.... For what, for trying to help a first time cruiser on a specific Meet page, it's one thing to stop future meets but for established cruises all that's being accomplished is that new uninitiated cruisers are getting left out..

Who knows this post will probably get deleted or get me banned and that's probably for the best bc if you can't give info to new cruisers what's the point of this, truthfully the policy was loosely applied to my post as I didn't provide a link or instructions but so be it... If I'm off the site thanks to those who helped me, and even those whom I debated with and against from topic to topic.... cruise on....#dropthemic.

I'm a new cruiser AND new to this message boards. One of my posts was deleted on our cruise meet page because I commented that it was difficult to follow the thread because of missing posts. Since I am NEW to cruising, I booked on my own. Considering a TA....but will decide which company to use as a result of which is most helpful to me on our maiden voyage.

The fact you found these boards and booked without a TA, tells me you probably don't need a TA. We have been on 2 Disney cruises and are about to go on our 3rd and I have always booked directly and used these boards for information; never feeling I was missing out on something.......my personal feeling is if you can work directly with the source, why would you put a middle man in between........

The only reason I went through a TA was for the onboard credit. Otherwise everything else is the same and I knew what we didn't so technically we didn't need them either.

Why would you not go through a TA? Do a little bit of research to see which ones offer the best onboard credit. That is free $$$ for excursions, spa treatments, photos, onboard gift shop purchases, etc!
