How do you make sure grocery delivery is delivered directly to bell services?

Is Instacart fine or should we use a different service?

We get in late so looking at having them just held until we get there but have always met them directly in the past.

Also Beach Club have freezers or just fridges? Will that be an issue with bell service getting them?

As far as I can remember, I have not read of groceries being delivered to anywhere other than Bell Services at the DVC resorts. And as far as I know, Bell Services has freezers as well as refrigerators at all locations.

I have read many reports of satisfaction with Instacart deliveries to DVC resorts. And I have read reports of issues with deliveries by Instacart as well as by other delivery services. So I would be comfortable using Instacart myself.

The Instacart shopper should know, but it's probably a good idea to remind them to separate items needing refrigeration from those needing freezing from those that can be stored at room temperature and to label each group clearly.

We have used Insta in the past and it's been pretty good. So good idea on reminding them to seperate.

BC has both fridge and freezer. I include a delivery note with my order that says to deliver to bell services and hold for guest “name”. As I recall there is now a $6 resort fee for the service. Have used both Instacart and Kroger delivery without issue.

There is a $6 charge for BS to deliver the groceries to the room. There's not fee for them to receive the order and store it. If a guest chooses to pick up the groceries themselves at BS, there's no charge. We've found most trips (and most orders), it's well worth the $6 and tip for the delivery. Instacart has worked great for us over the years.....

I'm not sure it's mentioned yet in the post, but BS will only accept non-alcoholic beverage groceries. If any alcohol is ordered, the person placing the order must be present to get the order.

$6 total or is it per item/bag?

I’m sure you’re correct… the charge is for BS to deliver to the room. Like you, I appreciate calling and having the groceries brought up for me… money well spent!

And yes, it’s one charge for the order, not per bag.

When we had groceries delivered to Boardwalk Villas last year, we tipped bell services, so I don't think $6 is expected to be the tip. Especially for delivery of typically 8 grocery bags, water etc etc. I think it is the charge that the hotel places on having deliveries to the hotel, similar to having delivery through USPS or Fedex to the hotel. $6 is not the tip to bell services for delivery, maybe I am wrong?

Yes, it’s listed as grocery delivery on your hotel charges. Tip is extra.

If you have alcohol, and do Instacart. someone needs to meet with an ID. I just used them last week.

I don’t know if other services can deliver without the guest if alcohol is included.

We had groceries delivered to both Boulder Ridge and Boardwalk in May and neither time had any charge by the resort. The groceries were dropped off to bell services and we picked them up rather than have bell services deliver it. We used Water Butlers and were happy with their service.

Why do they charge for grocery delivery to your room, but not luggage delivery to your room? I understand tipping is customary either way, I just don't understand why there is a mandatory fee for one vs. the other.

Probably because luggage is a normal expectation for guests, and it's part of the bell services experience. Grocery and package deliveries are outside of that service. I find it to be a negligible optional fee for the trips we order groceries.

I would say its because Bell Service doesn't get tipped as often.

Having worked in concierge and bell services in the past for a short period (not at Disney though) I suspect there was internal discussions and the team outlined they would prefer to not even deliver the packages possibly.

So the fee is to incentivize people to just pick up the bags themselves but at the same time not be so expensive that it outrages guests who realize this is an added service and possibly then still tip.

With the markups on the delivery services seemingly having increased since our last trip we ended up deciding to just visit the store ourselves. Makes us feel better about the quality of produce and replacement items anyways.

Seemed every item was $1-$2 more expensive and across 40ish things that really adds up on top of the delivery fee and tip we would give.

Plus have to go anyways or order another delivery for alcohol since we wouldn't be there for the first delivery.

On Spring Break we stayed off site for a few more nights then we normally do before moving to the bubble so I decided to get groceries myself. Lots of people said Publix was a nightmare to get to from where we were (Hilton Mystic Dunes) and to go to the Walmart as it was much closer. It was easy enough to get to but it was a complete mad house in there and I had no idea where anything was as we don't grocery shop at Walmart at all. I may have saved some money but it certainly wasn't worth the hassle for me.

I certainly get the picking of your own produce but we just picked up bananas and apples which are usually ok with deliveries and we don't buy alcohol for our room so we will be definitely switching back to delivery on the next trip.

When we arrived at BWV they were able to store the refrigerated items for us and brought up everything at one time.
I think they should waive the $6 package/grocery fee if they are delivering it at the same time as luggage but with Disney prices it is just one less Mickey bar so not that big of a deal.

Sorry - I disagree with this. They need to go through extra steps for the groceries, making sure they have all the bags, waters, cold items gathered on a cart that were delivered by the vendor for you. The extra work for them is on the front end, not just the delivering to your room. Suitcases are simple - they'll be in a single location stored together. In the whole scope of Disney vacations and how expensive they are, I'm surprised this fee is still so low! I really appreciate they'll deliver to the room! The older I get, the more I use it!
