How to handle meals

My father is terminally ill and does not eat. He gets an IV bag each day and it is set up to do in the room. He does like to come out with us once and awhile to meals, but doesn't eat....if he takes a bite of soemthing it is reason to celebrate.
Anyway, does anyone know how to handle this at meal time? Will they charge him the whole buffet price if he takes a bite of something? Will they charge him if he just sits there?? ANyone with meal experience would be helpful.

They will definately charge him if he takes a bite out of something. LTT charges a $5 "entertainment fee" for people not eating. As for other buffets, they may or may not charge. I would assume they would charge to ensure honesty - not that *you're* lying, but others might. I'd stick to non-buffet meals or LTT where you know it will only be $5.

I will first explain your Dad's condition with the restaurant first. I believe they will do what's right and be very flexible. B/C if I were to work in one of the restaurants, I wouldn't charge him anything PERIOD

I am on tube feeding and have never been charged, even at a character buffet. Even though I don't eat anything I can't imagine them charging your father if he took a bite. I have just explained that due to a medical condition I am unable to eat but am accompanying my family/friends and that has been enough. On one occasion I was with a large group at Boma and requested some water in a cup with a handle ( so I could grasp it). They gave me one of the refill mugs and I was not charged for it either and was told to take it with me. ---Kathy
