I assume I just take a bus - is it marked? And about how long does that ride take? We are trying to split the day between the two parks - is that crazy? Just hoping to do th ehighlights at each..... Thanks!

Yes you can take the bus for AK from MK and i think it is about 15 - 20 mins to get there. No it isnt crazy and AK isn't really a all day park anyway. They usually close by 6 or 7 depending on day. I would do AK first then take bus to MK and pick a day that MK is opened late.

Actually, you must first take the monorail from MK to TTC, THEN walk to the bus area and board the AK bus from there.

Another technique is to walk to the Contemporary Resort and take the bus to AK from there.

If you were to go to AK first, then MK, you could reverse the order of either of the procedures I mentioned.

we did this on a trip 2 years ago, and it was such a pain! i incorrectly assumed there would be a bus from mk itself to ak, and was suprised there wasnt...we took the monorail to the ttc, and then waited for a bus to ak. it had been so long since i really went to the ttc (probably about 20 years ago when i was small!!), i was suprised by how abandoned and run down it seemed. also, we waited what felt like a really long time for a bus- i decided i would never do that again, and we plan our trips to keep us from having to make that particular hop! the idea about going to the contemporary sounds like a good one!! :)

On one Sunday in January each year you could run! That is if you enter the WDW Marathon which takes you from MK into a back entrance of AK.:yay:

Another method would be to take a bus from MK to AKLodge.
Then board the bus to AK from AKLodge.

Sometimes the trip can be short, if you find a bus (or two) waiting as you arrive.
Sometimes it can take longer if you "just miss" a connection or two.

Its all just a matter of timing... and all of it is out of your control.

Just pick a plan and go for it.

Disney transportaion can be great as long as you understand it!

Park hopping: Great between Epcot and HS, just a boat ride. Great between AK and Epcot, bus.

MK is tough, and really the only easy commute is MK to Epcot, but even that is first one monorail, then a long ramp down followed by a long ramp up to a second monorail. Or the TTC, as Robo mentioned, but I find the busses don't show up as often at the TTC.

That's one of the reasons I love my Passporter. It has a whole page with where the busses run, and how to park hop.

AK is now a 2 DAY park for me!! Ok, I admit we don't get there at opening. But to really see everything & enjoy a few things we like more than once, AK takes me 2 days. I have taken a day of my normal 8 day itinerary from DHS to accomodate this. I can do DHS in 1 not-very-long day.

As to the bus, I'd go along with the suggestion of taking the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus, then transferring to the AK bus. Or the reverse to go the other way.

I absolutely try to avoid TTC is at all possible. I would rather take a bus to a resort, then a bus from there to a park then go to that dreaded TTC. I swear, the buses forget to go there. We waited 45 mins to a bus one time there. NEVER AGAIN, NO WAY!!!! They really need to update the service there, it is horrible

Taking a cab would work too, right? If you don't want to "waste" precious Disney time, and if you don't mind paying, (what, maybe around $10 - $15?). A lot less stress, anyhow!

No cabs at the MK gates.

They are at TTC.

The other choice is to walk to Contemporary and get a cab there.

In dozens of trips to WDW since it opened, I have never taken a cab to anywhere. But to each...

You can take a bus at the front entrance of the MK to any Disney hotel. Once you arrive at that resort, simply get off the bus, get in the line for the AK bus, and hop on when it comes. You do not have to be a guest at that particular resort.

We've done this many times, and the biggest problem is waiting on a "specific" bus (i.e for your specific resort). So, when we go to the bus line at the MK, we simply get on the first bus that we see. Whatever resort it goes to, you can transfer to the AK.

For MK to AK I think walk to contemporary then cab/bus would probably be the quickest... last week my cab from AKL to Contemporary cost under $20 & took ~20 mins

AK - MK: take the first bus going to any of the monorail resorts, walk from contemporary, monorail from GF/Poly.
