How to get wedding dress to WDW?

This is probably a really stupid question but how are you/ did you get your wedding dress to WDW? I leave in 20 days and my dress isn't even here yet do I don't think shipping it will be an option. I am flying Southwest so I can check 2 bags. Is putting the dress in a suitcase a crazy idea? Any advice is welcomed. Thanks!

I wouldn't check it with your luggage. I've arrived without my luggage several times. If you can't ship it, I'd put it in a carry on bag (some places online sell boxes that are the size of carry on luggage so you can put it in the over head). Or you could bring it in the garment bag and try to get it hung in the closet in first class (or you may have to put it in the overhead in the bag).

Thanks it never even occurred to me to put it in a Cary on. I don't think it would fit. My dress not arriving yet has me more stressed then I realized

I carried my dress on.

We bought a garment bag from David's Bridal and carried the dress onto the plane.

The flight attendants were really helpful and made sure it was stored carefully-they carefully laid the garment bag across the overhead, making sure no one put anything on top of the dress.

They would have draped it over an empty seat, but our flight was full.

My dress arrived safely.

If you do carry on, just BE SURE that you get your dress steamed in Disney a day or so before the wedding.

I put my dress in a carry-on, I was too nervous to have it out of my site. I was concerned it wouldn't fit, but I was able to cram it in the suitcase. I had Carolyn Allen's coming to steam it the day of wedding so I wasn't worried about wrinkles.
