How to get to Whispering Canyon?

We are doing two days at MK. On our second MK day, I am going to make ADR at Whispering Canyon Ranch...so here's the deal:

We will get up early, be at MK for opening, then eat lunch CS, and go back to the hotel for a swim/nap break. Then, we want to go to WL for our dinner reservations, and take the boat back to MK for some evening touring.
We are staying at Shades of Green (across from the Poly)

So, do we drive (we have a car) over to WL for dinner, take the boat to MK, then the boat back to WL and drive home?
And, if we drive to WL for dinner, will we be charged parking?
Do we take a cab?
I know we can take the monorail to TTC and get a resort bus from there to WL, then just do the boat ride to MK, but the bus thing sounds like it might take a long time? I remember last time we were there (2004) driving was just faster most of the time....

Please help me decide how to get there!

Personally, I would take the bus to TTC and then take the monorail/ferry to MK. From there pick up the boat to WL. (I like the boat rides) Then to get home, just take standard transportation back. You could also take any transportation to any park and then just take the WL bus. You can drive if you want to skip using buses, and I don't believe they charge for parking if you tell the security person at the gate you have reservations. Enjoy your meal!

You can take the monorail to the MK or the Contemporary. Both have boats going over the WL. Enjoy!

And when you get to WL, inside the main entrance, it's immediately to your left. You will hear all the noise. Atleast for breakfast you do. I love that breakfast! Mmmm.....

You are not allowed to park at a resort and then go to a theme park. If you have an ADR for a resort restaurant they give you a parking pass, usually for a maximum of 3 hours. You are not supposed to go on to the MK.
If you want to pay to valet park, you can stay as long as you want.
If everyone did as you suggest, there would not be enough parking spaces for the paying guests of the WL, and that is not fair to them.

We go to WCC every trip, and the best advice I can give you after being late twice - do not take the boat to your ressie unless you have at least 2 hours - we found that taking the bus to MK from our resort then the bus from MK to WL was the fastest, then taking the boat back to MK was a nice, relaxing thing to do after we eat. If you do not have a bus from your resort to MK, then take the bus to the TTC and transfer there to MK. If you have a parking pass you should be able to park at another resort for a meal, as we always do this - not sure if Shades of Green is considered a Disney resort though, but you should be able to visit the resort with your car if you let security know you have a dinner reservation.

I'm assuming since SOG is not a Disney Resort they do not use Disney buses because no other Disney Resort has a bus that goes to the TTC.

I do recall though that SOG used different routes. Just making sure you really can get to the TTC from SOG.

Yes, SOG has a bus dedicated to going back and forth to the TTC, every 20 minutes. So, I think we can either jump on the monorail, head to MK, then take a bus to WL and the boat back to MK....or we can take the SOG bus to the TTC and grab a WL bus from there...which do you think would be faster?


I just wanted to waste the least amount of time possible for traveling, and be able to enjoy a couple more hours at the park....I still have no idea if this will even be possible for us.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I think driving to WL and back to SOG would be fastest, but we would miss the boat ride to MK...is it worth it, or really not a big deal?

While SOG may run a bus to the TTC, Disney doesn't run a bus from the TTC to WL or any other resort. In fact Disney only runs a bus that takes you to the AK or DHS.

Drive yourselves over to WL. Have your meal, then drive back to TTC, park, head to MK. This is really the quickest and easiest way to do it.

OH, okay, I thought the TTC had buses that went to the parks AND the resorts...

So we need to take the monorail to MK, then either the boat or a bus to WL, then the boat back to MK....

Or drive there and back.

Are those my two options?
Maybe we could take a cab to WL from Shades, which might be fast and allow us to still take the boat to MK...
Would that be expensive?
