How to get to Universal or Sea world cheap

I cant remember what it was when I was there a few months ago but I want to say it was $35 per person each way. So we called off going to universal because I wasn't about to pay $140 for 2 of us JUST to get there and back

The cheapest way to go, usually, is to rent a car. Sometimes a one-day rental can be had for less than $30, sometimes even $20. You add $15 for parking and $8-12 for gas, and it's a pretty decent deal at $43-57 round trip, and has a lot of flexibility.

If you don't want to drive, it gets trickier. By cab Sea World is about a $60-80 round trip. Universal is $90-110 round trip. That can go up because the cab is metered. If you sit in traffic, for example, the meter stays running. If you're going before 7 AM or after 9 AM, that's probably not a huge issue. On the way back, you want to avoid the 4-6PM range, but that's not usually an issue; most people leave Universal/Sea World much later.

The Mears shared van service from WDW to SeaWorld or Universal is $19 per person each way, so that's $76 for the two of you, plus tip. The van will pick up several people, so it's not quick. A cab is probably a better deal, certainly to Sea World, since it's taking just you and will drive direct. Traffic, again, can drive up the cab rate.

Limo is about $80 round trip to Sea World, $100 to Universal, plus tip.

There is a local bus, route 50, that goes from WDW to Sea World. It's sloooow, like 50 minutes or more, but super cheap. It picks up at the TTC, so you also need to figure in the time to get to the TTC.

One other tip: usually the best place to pick up a cab or a limo for the lowest fare is at or near Downtown Disney. It's $80 R/T to Sea World from DTD, but $90 R/T from any MK resort or AKL. Unfortunately, the DTD buses don't run early in the morning. You might save a few bucks by getting them to drop you off at DTD in the evening though.

Wow!! We took a cab to/from US from BC during our April stay. The taxi fare was approx. $34 each way. The price of the cab was a bargain compared to the 1day US tickets.

Yup!!!
I've taken the #50 Lynx bus to SW, from the TTC. It's very easy and cheap...a few bucks pp each way. It drops you right at the SW parking lot. You do have to tell the bus driver you want to go to SW though. They don't stop automatically!!
And, I've used the Mears shuttle over to US/IoA many times. I actually like the DreamsUnlimited deal that gives you free shuttle service when you buy park passes!!! If you choose not to buy that pkg, you can just book Mears by calling them the night before, making arrangements for pickup the next day. Works very well and is very inexpensive.

Mears is $19 RT per person (plus tip). It also depends on how many people are leaving from your resort so sometimes you don't have to make stops. We use Mears every trip from BCV to either SW or US/IOA and usually make one additional stop. We had to take a cab from SW one year (DH was so sick) and the cab cost us $40 one way.

The cheapest is the Lynx bus but getting to DTD and then taking the bus over I think would be longer.

Last year we took the Lynx bus to SW and it was very easy and inexpensive. We stayed and POR. We took the POR bus to DTD, walked across the street to the Lynx bus and got dropped off at SW parking lot. Then we took the Lynx bus back to DTD. The trip did take a little long because of all the stops but we still got to SW in decent time. We were able to do everything we wanted. We did not do rides.
