How to get to the boardwalk area using Disney transportation?

What is the easiest way to get to the Boardwalk area using Disney Transportation? We'd like to go over and check it out during the "rest day" we've built in to our upcoming trip, but I'm not sure how to get there. We will not have a car and, so, will have to depend entirely on Disney Transport.

Thanks in advance!

Depends where you're coming from,if you're at a theme park take a bus directly to the Boardwalk resort. If you're at another resort then bus to DHS and walk or boat to the Boardwalk would be the best options.Exceptions would be like if you're at a MK resort it would be easier to monorail to MK and bus to Boardwalk. If you're at Epcot you can exit Epcot via the International Gateway entrance and walk a short 5 minutes to the Boardwalk, walking from DHS is also doable but more like a10-15 minute walk so the boat might be the better option on hot days.Of course you can also take a bus to DTD from a resort and transfer to a Boardwalk bus.

Seeing as Op was going on a rest day and wanted the easiest route, I didn't recommend the Epcot route because it involved going through bag check and a park turnstile. Also would cost the Op a day off their ticket if they weren't planning on using one that day.

Where are you staying? If you're at an Epcot-area resort, I'd just walk there since you're not going to be in a hurry. Otherwise, the only real good option is a bus to DHS and then walk or take the boat (I prefer the walk myself). The other option is to take a bus to AK, and then transfer to a Boardwalk Inn or BC/YC bus, or if you're in the MK area, take a bus/boat/monorail to the MK, and then transfer to a BWI/BC/YC bus.

Somewhat related question...if your at CBR and take a bus to one of the parks..does it stop at swan and Dolphin on the way?

Then I could walk over to boardwalk.

I think the Epcot one does..but not 100% sure on the others.

No, CBR has its own buses.

There are specific buses that pick up/drop off at the combination of Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, and then Boardwalk. If you're staying at the BWI, it feels as if it is taking forever.

I've never heard of CBR sharing buses with Swan /Dolphin. Only other Epcot deluxes sharing with S/D at times.

Boardwalk park busses are BW/Swan/Dolphin. YC/BC have their own. The Downtown Disney bus goes to all 5.

We only use the buses for MK and recall being the last drop-off after pulling into every Epcot Resort. That's good to know that's no longer the case.

The answer will totally depend on where you intend to travel from. From a park, just take a bus to the Boardwalk. From a resort outside the Epcot resort area you probably should take a bus to DHS and either walk down or ride the boat. From DTD, take the bus, get out at the Swan and walk over - don't wait for the BW stop unless you like long bus rides. If you're in Epcot just walk over through the International Gateway.

You guys are awesome. Thank you, thank you! :goodvibes

Yes, we'll be coming from Pop Century. That's where we're staying. Going to sleep in and just hang out there for a while and then head over to the Boardwalk around lunch time.

I think we'll take the bus to DHS since it's so close and then by boat from there.

Another question about this same day: We're looking at maybe Captain's Grille for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. Is it an easy walk from the Boardwalk area? Another boat ride. I know it's off the beaten path . . . just not sure how far.

There won't be anything to see on the Boardwalk at lunchtime - entertainment and games don't start until evening. The sit down restaurants aren't even open with the exception of ESPN and Big River.

If you don't want to walk over to the Beach/Yacht for Captain's Grill, take the boat at BW and make sure you get on the side going to DHS. That boat will go right across the lake to the Yacht Club dock.

OK thanks all...I recall staying at S\D and stopping elsewhere first on the way back...I though it was CBR, but it must have been BW

It's unfortunate there is not some bus that makes rounds of the resorts to get you to boardwalk...or more importantly back later at night...

Most of the time DTD bus is the only option..unless you grab a taxi.

I would just take a cab. So much easier and gives you more time at your destination, not trapped in a bus or boat with other people.

The Captain's Grill is in the Yacht Club. Which is about a 5 minute walk from middle of Boardwalk. You will be surprised how close everything is - including the EPCOT entrance at end of Boardwalk. You mention going to Boardwalk at lunch time. Later in the day is when the free entertainment comes out. This is not a hugh area but nice one. In fact we have stayed at Boardwalk Inn and in February will be staying at the Beach Club. It is SOOO convenient and time effective if you are going to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios.

We took a bus from AKL to DHS and walked over to the boardwalk ....one of the best memories of the trip! Such an interesting walk!!!
