Iam hoping to book the Astronaut Training Experience as a surprise for DH and Ds....Can anyone help with directions to KSC?
Is it easy to find? Is it a safe drive?
They'll be setting off from a disney hotel...I would have loved to arrange transportation for them...Does anyone know of a pick up service..or a limo..or towncar sevice that would be reasonable to drop off and pick up?
Thanks..:)

I asked a similar question yesterday and got a couple of replies: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1357220

It looks like Mears will pick you up and do a roundtrip. I'm leaning towards the Gator Tour package but that's just for the security of having a guide with us the whole day. Hope this helps!

You can book a tour with some of the travel agents (Virgin do one) imagine this is quite expensive but should be convenient and saves the hassle of driving.

When we went to Kennedy we used the Mears shuttle. We booked it when we were there from their desk at the Dolphin (or it might have been the Swan!) It was very conventient, the bus picked us up from the hotel and we were dropped back off there. We were lucky in that on the way back the bus dropped us off at our hotel 1st and then those staying off site were transfered to a minibus to be taken back to their hotels.

Can I ask what time did the shuttle bus get you there?
My only concern is that the Astronaut training programme starts at 9.30 and I don't know if a shuttle might arrive later than that.
Also what about leaving KSC...was there different times? The tour finishes at about 4.30pm.:)

The Astronaut Training is a great day! A word of warning though - it starts and finishes at The Astronaut Hall of Fame which is NOT the same location as Kennedy Space Centre - it is about 5 miles down the road, but on the way to the centre. Not sure what the age limits are on the tour. You get some fun activities and something similar to the up close tour of kennedy (this ATX was the best tour we had ever done). We also got annual passes for Kennedy so went back on another day to do the rest of the Kennedy stuff like the Imax films. This doesn't help with your transport questions but it might help you get to the right place!
