We are doing ABD next year and they have an add on for $2,000 to stay at New York DLP Hotel and a 3 day park hopper. I think this is way too much and would like to do it on my own.

We are DVC members and would use points to stay at New York, but how do we get from our hotel in Paris with our luggage to DLP and then back to the airport?

When I talked to ABD they said it costs around $200 each way for a private shuttle and said that I don't want to take the train with our luggage. Has anyone stayed at a hotel in Paris and then went to DLP with their luggage and then what is the best way to get to Charles de Gaulle airport from DLP?

Thanks for any advice!

I should have looked at the sticky above before I posted, I see there is a company called Always Shuttle and when I punch in DLP to Airport it is coming up around 69 Euros, thats a lot better then what I was told.

Anyone use this company or could recommend another company?

DLP has their own buses, they pick you up at the hotel. I think it cost about 18 euros each way.
Why shouldn't you take the train? It takes like 20 min and drop you off right by DLP.

I guess that they are talking about the train from Paris to DLP which takes 40-50 mins depending on where you get on :confused3

If so I can understand ABD saying don't take the train as it's not what people are used to especially if they have a lot of luggage and depending on what time they take it it can be a right nightmare crowd wise ;)

OP - How much luggage have you got and how many people are there in your group ?

Thorsten (Thba) used Tioshuttle this year from Paris-Gare du Nord to DLP and return and he was very happy with them

If they came to GdN they would come to your hotel for you.

I'd suggested contacting them for a price :)

You could always take the high speed train from DLP direct to the airport on your way back, this takes around 12 minutes and depending on the time you catch it can be as low as 17€ pp

The amount of luggage would be the determining factor on taking the TGV to the airport. There's no place to check your luggage. You're responsible for getting it on train yourself and finding a place to put it, though there is some space at the ends of the cars, near the doors.

We took the TGV from CDG to Tours a couple of weeks ago and I got rather excited when I unexpectedly saw Space Mountain out the window. It was a full train and ended up putting our luggage above the seats. The return train didn't have the same configuration, though, so it would have been hard if it were as crowded. Fortunately, we tried very hard to pack as light as possible.

The cheapest TGV tickets go on sale 90 days ahead of time.

You might want to start the process of getting a Shareholders Club card, if you were interested. I still haven't gotten mine and I'm already back from the trip. I got a few strange looks with the temporary card that they sent me.

She told me not to take the train because of having luggage, we will have a lot since it is a 3 week trip for us.

So DLP has a bus shuttle service to pick us up at our hotel or take us from DLP to the airport? Do you know the phone number or website to book with them?

The Princess is talking about the VEA bus that goes from the airport to the DLP hotels and back - it doesn't go into Paris though

I know this is a radical concept coming from a Texan that usually flies to WDW on Southwest with two free bags per person and a Magical Express to get the bags to the hotel, but you could pack light, even for a three week European trip. I just came back from eight days in France with a carry-on sized suitcase. It makes it so much easier to get around. Just get some packets of Woolite and wash a few clothes every few days.

Interesting concept. What size carry-on? When I recently flew to UK I was told the carry-on had to be significantly smaller then what we are used to flying with in the US, so I put a large suitcase in the hold. Then when I got to the airport in LHR people had very large carry-ons and were allowed to take them onboard. Did you have any problems? We will be flying AA next March.:coffee:

I think it was a regular 22" bag. We flew first class (via miles) on a United 767 to CDG. I didn't think the overhead bins were any smaller than anywhere else. I checked my bag because DW had a larger bag. I tried to follow tips for packing light from Rick Steves' books.
