We have garden view rooms at the Poly at the end of January. I have 2 or 3 buildings I would really like to be in. I know they don't guarantee building requests. Does anyone have any information on the best way to get a room in the building you want.

Thanks for any help.

I really have no idea, but would love to know too!
We were there week after thanksgiving, i also had a couple buildings i was interested in, one was listed on my reservation as a request, well on check in none of the buildings i liked was available, so i took what they offered. well when we went to the room it was dirty, too much going on for me to shrug off, so I went back to the front desk to let them know and to move, well they asked me where I would like to move to and I told them, and magically there was a room available then in that building!!! I don't know why they said it wasn't 15 min earlier, but I ended up where I wanted and the rest of the stay was perfect.
So I would love to know as well the best way to get the building you want!! ( aside from having a problem!1)

Honestly since it's a request the best thing you can do is see what happens at check-in. Maybe you could try to check-in 1st thing in the morning at like 7:00 AM and say if it's possible I would like this specific Longhouse, but then again checking in early may not guarantee getting the Longhouse you requested.

There are no 'guarantees' to get the longhouse you want at the Poly, however you can have your preferences noted on your reservation. :thumbsup2 For my trip to the Poly in August I requested a room in Samoa on the 1st floor facing the volcano pool. Wasn't really counting on getting it but when we checked in we got our request! Another time I requested a lagoon view in the Tahiti building but when I checked in that longhouse was full.

The general rule of thumb that I have always heard was that the Poly cast members always try to grant at least one of your room requests. With that in mind, if a specific building is most important to you, make that building your only room request. After learning this "rule", I looked back at several previous trips to the Poly and found that it was true. I always made 3 or 4 specific room requests and it seemed that at least 1 was always granted (sometimes 2 but never more than that). I suppose it could be coincidence but it was accurate none the less.

I've been to the Poly 3 times. The first 2 stays they honered exactly what I requested on my reservation. I wasn't so lucky the 3rd time. The CM even went back to her supervisor, but came back and said "there is nothing they could do. Be happy you received a discount on the room." I had the 40% deal last year. Don't know if that actually had anything to do with it, but they wouldn't budge on my room request. Ended up in Niue. Had a great time just the same.

I still fail to see why the Deluxe resorts cannot guarantee or assign a room!
I booked and prepaid through DCL and have my room assigned on board ship.
Why can't the resort do the same? They sure cost enough.
My requests are simple...connecting rooms with a patio or balcony. If they cannot honor those I will have to go somewhere else. My FIL is a closed head injury and cannot be left alone....he has some OCD issues from the accident and HAS to be able to sit outside...he will sit out on the porch for hours at a time counting cars (there has to be 7.)
I have made my requests thru TA....I plan on faxing/callling a few days before...should I make the requests under special medical or general room?
