How to get the most out of points

Do the points have certain times they are lower besides for during the week? For example the OKW has room rates during Oct listed under regular and July as Value. Yet when I use the point calculator it is less points to go in Oct. than in July. So I was just wondering how it worked and what months cost the least amount of points.

Also if you want to stay at a regular Disney resort as opposed to a DVC resort is it worth the points?

Yes the DVC resorts do have thier own Seasons. These seasons do not always coinside with the WDW Resort seasons. In addition, the Seasons for the WDW-DVC resorts are not the same as for Vero Beach and Hilton Head.

If you do choose to exchange your points to stay at a hotel room in WDW, you wil spend about the more of points. Typically you can get a 2BR condo at DVC for the same points it would take to stay at many of the WDW hotel rooms.

The DVC (at WDW) seasons are (from Lowest points to highest points):

Adventure Season - (Basically January, September and the 1st half of December)
Choice Season - (October, November and the rest of December, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas)
Dream Season - (1st half of February, May, 1st half of June, 2nd half of August)
Magic Season - (2nd half of February, March & April except for the 2 weeks surrounding Easter, 2nd half of June, July, 1st half of August, Thanksgiving)
Premier Season - (Weeks aroud Easter, and the week from Christmas to New Year's)

These could change, but this is how it has basically been for the past several years.
