How to get from here to there...??

I'm planning to make my welcome dinner ressies for 7:30 at Ohana (assuming they can accomodate us for that time). We'd like to use disney transportation but was wondering if you guys could help me figure it out. We will be staying at All Star Movies so we plan to take a bus to MK and the gold ferry to the Poly. The Problem is that MK closes at 8pm that night so there will no longer be transportation servicing the park by the time we are done so we have to find another way back to our resort. AK of course closes at 5 and MGM closes at 8 that night. Epcot, however, is open until 9:30 so I was thinking we could take the monorail there and then a bus back to Movies. I'm not sure how long dinner will last but say it lasts 2 hrs having us finish around 9:30...10 the latest...that should give us plenty of time before the transportation to and from Epcot stops, right???? Is this plan reasonable? I know the worst case scenerio would be heading to PI and then back to Movies but I really don't feel like spending THAT much extra time on the bus with 6 kids...haha!! To you experts out there...help...please!!

I believe the monorail to Epcot and/or TTC will still be operating at that time of night. The busses will definitely still be going to and from Epcot at that point b/c people will still be leaving the park at 10pm. You could also take a bus to DT Disney then transfer. Honestly I dont think it would be that much difference timewise. If you take the monorail from Poly then you have to change at TTC to the Epcot one then get a bus so it'll still take some time.

It will work out though! Maybe you'll find a bus driver just about to get off duty and he'll drive you to wherever. We've had that happen before when we couldnt find a good way back to the hotel! GL

I'm like 99% positive that just because MK is closed doesn't mean the Ticket and Transportation is closed. It's the main hub from which most transportation occurs (monorails, buses, etc) so it has to be open late. I would think you should be able to hop on the monorail back to T&T, then take a bus from there back to your hotel. Hope that helps!

Now that you say that, I'm pretty sure you're right. She could just take the monorail to TTC and then catch a bus to the hotel. That would be fastest.

So what's the difference in the TTC and MK stops? See this is where I get confused, lol! Are they the same hub or two different places?

The TTC is the first stop you make. You can get to anywhere on Disney property from here (monorails to the Polynesian, GR, and Contemporary resorts, as well as Epcot; buses to anywhere else). You also get on either the monorail or the ferry to get to Magic Kingdom. The MK entrance is completely separate; you can't drive your car up to the front gate or anything.

I was under the impression you were going to be at MK that day. If you are, you would take a bus from your resort to the TTC, then the monorail/ferry to MK, THEN a monorail to the Polynesian for your ressies. If you aren't, and are only going for dinner, you would take a bus from your resort to the TTC, then the resort monorail directly to the Polynesian. No need to go to the MK at all.

Does that make sense? You might want to hop on disney.com. Maybe they have maps that would help you visulize better? In any case, yes, MK and TTC are two separate places, across the Seven Seas Lagoon from each other.

Hmmm....now I'm really lost. I've been to MK many times in the past and I remember simply taking a bus to MK and walking...no ferry, no monorail...just walked. The bus stop was right there. WAAAAHHHH...why am I not understanding this? Thanks for trying to help me...i'm going to go try to find a map....

You're right: there are a few buses that will pull right up to the MK (usually from resorts?). Most people have to go through TTC first.

So to amend my earlier statement (if you're pretty sure your resort drops off at MK's "front door"), if you're planning on hanging out at the MK during the day, take a bus directly there. Then take a monorail to the Polynesian and after dinner, a monorail to the TTC and pick up a bus to your resort. If you're not hanging out at MK during the day, take a bus from your resort to the TTC, then the monorail to the Polynesian and the reverse after the dinner.

I'm sorry if I've confused you; it all makes sense in my head!

You're right: you CAN take a bus directly from the resorts to the MK front gate. That's how you must always do it. But like you said, since MK buses (from the front gate) won't be running by the time Ohanas is done, you'll have to take your very first trip to the TTC. Don't worry; it's pretty easy. You just take the monorail there, then ask a CM where the bus loop is. Once you find the bus loop, find the bus stop with your resort on it, and voila, easy access back to your resort.

I think I'll stop "helping" now. I hope I'm doing more than just confusing you!

hahaha! Thank you, that did help and I found a map that showed where TTC was so I'm not totally lost anymore. I guess I was just confused because I read somewhere that there is no bus service fom the resort to TTC but I guess that was wrong. ?? At any rate, it's much more convienient this way...thank you!!!!

Well crap...just found this on DIS transportation...

Now, a word about the TTC and something the above poster said ....
There are NO BUSES from resorts to the TTC. That animal just doesn't exist. On your way home from Polynesian or Grand Floridian, you need to get to a theme park that is still open (or at least very recently closed) or else Downtown Disney, and then switch there to a bus labeled for your resort. There is just no such thing as a bus from a resort to TTC, or a bus from TTC to a resort.

I guess the monorail to TTC then to Epcot or a bus to DTD is my best bet. Well...I'm sure my guests wouldn't mind taking the monorail since it's kind of fun and Epcot is a beautiful sight at night! Boy oh boy...they don't make it easy, do they? haha! Thanks again!!!!

Yeah...I think that's what we are going to do! I'm so jealous...I was telling DF I wish we were staying there so we could just stroll down to jellyrolls! HAHA...I'm so happy for you guys, you're going to love it there. I can't wait to get together, we're going to have a great time!

Yeah, I was just afraid that we wouldn't actually catch the bus if we didn't get done eating until 10 (paying check...transportation time, etc...) Does anyone know how long dinner should take for about 20 people at Ohana? Man...I am such a planning freak...right down to the minute! I guess we could always check the time and decide...this would be quicker than going to Epcot.

I also would say that a taxi is your best bet. That's what we did because I went down to Disney one day and took the Disney transportation routes I was originally planning and it took waaaay too long!
You can catch a taxi van just about anywhere on WDW property. They hold 6 adults easy! From DTD to the boardwalk it only cost us $20 for the van. Just don't reserve it ahead of time because they will charge you much much more!

You are going to be worn out by the end of your wedding day! The taxi will be well worth it!
