how to fix transfer mistake?

When I washed some of my shirts, the transfer started to peel up. The customer sevice folks at avery said I could iron the oppopsite side of the trasfer to remove it, and then try again with a new sheet. But when I try to do that, its not coming off.
anybody have any advice?
Can I put a new transfer over the old? or do I just buy new shirts?

I had found somewhere on the web that a solvent like Goo gone might help break down the transfer. So I tried it. It worked ok. A generous amount of goo gone extreme, and a butter knife allowed me to scrape off most of the transfer. I then washed the shirts a few times to remove the goo gone, then ironed a new transfer over it. It could not tell after they were done which shirt I had redone. It was time consuming, but for a small transfer or just one or two shirts it works well.
