How to enter the dating scene?

OK ~ So I can honestly say I've never been on a real date in my adult life and I'm 26. I met my Ex in high school and we were together for 10+ years ~ 2 kids.

How does one go about entering the dating scene after soooo long?
Where do you meet people? I'm not much of a bar-hopper or clubber.

I'm not looking to find a new husband ~ I just wanna get out and socialize with adults. Maybe the occasional dinner & a movie.

I don't know where to start!

I met DH at work--he worked in a different department. We were friendly acquaintances before we started dating so I think it was a bit easier. Although, dating after being married for 13 years was just plain weird.

I recommend taking classes, joining clubs--starting out with no assumptions other than friendship makes the whole thing easier.

Personally, I'm a big fan of internet dating. With a bit of common sense it's safe. When I jumped back into dating, I was able to meet a lot of new people that way.

I agree with the other posters, join something you enjoy! I joined a mixed bowling league and have met some really nice people. I admit it's extremely hard in the beginning but just have the mind set of wanting to make new friends. The rest just falls into place.

I met my boyfriend at work. I also am not a fan of bars or clubs. Join clubs or have your friends set you up with someone. I also know a few people who have had relationships with people they met on internet dating websites. Normally you will find someone when you are not looking at all. It's weird how it works.
