We have navy and red luggage which are very very common on the luggage carousel. I'm looking for suggestion to make it stand out that won't cost me a bundle. Any suggestions?

I usally pick up two inexpensive rolls of ribbon at either the Dollar Store or Michaels. I try to find some obnoxious color combination like bright purple and neon yellow, and tie pieces onto one of the handles. Easy and cheap.

I tied bright pink camouflage bandanas from Walmart and tied them tightly around the handle on the top of each suitcase.

I had those in the house already because we used to use them to mark the rental strollers at Disney. I think they cost $1 each now.

Duct tape. Even my supermarket has crazy patterns :), and ACMoore does as well. Less than $5 a roll, and wrapping a strip fully around each bag is added security against broken zippers.

Was just going to say this! Used bright pink for my DD's

we didn't wrap it around in case they had to open it but added several stripes on each side.

The trouble with using ribbon and bandannas is if it gets caught in the belt it can cause the suitcase to get ripped or damaged or really hammered a long time by other bags or the belt. so make sure they aren't hanging off the bag very far.

Use strips of half inch tape to construct a 3 digit number in large print. Put this same number in two places on each piece of luggage. (Or put the number in large Magic Marker width print on 4x6 index cards taped to the bags.

Now it has to stick well. Some brands and kinds of tape do not stick well.

i used a combination of hot pink spray paint and hand cut geek themed stencils to make our family luggage unmistakable. i have never again stood for 45 minutes trying to figure out which ugly, beat to death, black rectangle was mine. there's no way to mistake or forget them.

We got mini bath poofs and tied one to each of of the handles.

A three-pack from the dollar store included one of each colour....pink, blue and white.....so we could even easily discern whose black suitcase was whose as they popped through the luggage door. Pink for me, blue for DH and white for the boy. And all for just a buck :thumbsup2 .

We tried the ribbon thing as well on past trips, but didn't find it held up as well as the bath poofs did.

Thos look like they just came out of the reactor :rotfl2:

We bought animal luggage tags that Target carried for a while. One of each, with enough to hang on some carry-ons as well. I tell people I'm traveling with that I'm looking for the monkey, and they laugh, but when the monkey comes out, I know I'm done! :thumbsup2

We put strips of purple duct tape on two sides of each suitcase and can spot them as soon as they come out onto the baggage return! They have remained stuck on them for about 10 years!

On my last trip, I actually had to stop someone who pulled my luggage off the carrier and was making off with it, then had to argue with him that it was MY luggage!

"That's mine."

"No, it's not." He started walking away, my bag stil trailing behind him.

I kept up with him. "You're Snarling Coyote who is a member of the MFA, visits Disney regularly and attended the Salem Witch Institute?" I indicated the tags adorning my JC Penney (pre-new CEO) luggage. (Note: Salem Witch Institute is an HP joke.)

He snarled at me and handed the luggage over then went back to the carosel :lmao:

He was either a very bad thief or a jerk. . .I lean towards jerk, myself.

However, I just collect distinctive tags for my luggage. Seems to work and gives me souvenirs.

DH & I saw 2 pieces of luggage on the carousel at Ft Myers, with a stripe of duct tape, put on diagonally on each side of a black, wheeled bag.

Written on each stripe of tape?

NOT YOUR BAG!!!! :)

I thought that was brilliant.

Thank you so much! Looks like duct tape is then way to go with a touch of ribbon!

We did something very similar for our black luggage. I made a stencil with our initial in the center of a Mickey Head then used green neon paint. Another was done wilth exclamation points and squiggles in yellow neon. I can't tell you how many people commented on those as they came around the track.

I wrap colored electrical tape around the handles. Hard for some one to say they didnt notice the color when they had to put their hand on it.

Designed ducttape would work too.
