How to do Fastpasses for a child turning 3 on vacation?

I'm planning a trip to Disney in January for our daughter's 3rd birthday. We're only going to two parks (MK and AK) and both will be after she turns 3. Prior to that we'll just be hanging out at the resort. The problem is that I don't think I'll be able to link her ticket to her name now and sign up for Fastpasses for her before she turns 3 in the system. Should I just change her birthday in MDE or is there another way to do this? We already have 10-Day non-expiring tickets, they're just not linked to our accounts yet. I don't want to link her ticket to her with the wrong birthday and then have problem trying to change it back and I definitely don't want the system to think I'm scamming it somehow!

Hmmm, so I guess we're better off just getting a 2-day ticket for me and my husband and saving the non-expiring tickets for later. If we use ours then we'll only have 8 days left whereas our daughter will have 10 days

Is the OP starting onsite or off? That's an important piece of the puzzle....

If she is staying onsite at a WDW resort, she is the age she is at checkin for the entire trip.

I was under the impression that they would be on property, but not in the parks until after the child's birthday. I agree that that's the difference - if they're staying onsite, the child remains two. If offsite, then the child will be 3 and needs tickets.

Nope. This is the absolute best time to take a child to WDW. She can eat off your plate for free, will be able to eat at the buffets for free, and you can order her things (and pay cash) as needed.

Correct. Your child is considered 2, and FREE, for the whole trip. ENJOY!!

You do not need a ticket for her or the dining plan. We did this with our son left a few days before he turned 3 so we could utilize the under 3 rate. It's the best time to go.

Does this policy apply to hard-ticket parties if they're during an onsite stay? I would think the parties are standalone events and if you're 3 that day, you're just 3.

Has anyone taken a 3 year old into a party without a ticket in this circumstance?

I've spoke to 5 different representatives at Disney and nobody told me this! One suggested I change her birthday, another suggested I called technical services to be able to sign up for Fastpasses, nobody said that if she's 2 on check-in date then she's considered 2 for the entire stay! I'm so glad I asked here, thank you all

This happened to us about 8 years ago. My wife drilled my poor son into telling everyone who asked him he would be 2 on his birthday(again).
She did let him wear a pin but when a CM asked he would just look at her confused. Then we found out he was considered 2 the whole trip anyway and both were fine the rest of the trip. She will be considered 2 for your trip, enjoy your last freebee!

I just hope there aren't cast members at the rides who aren't aware of the rule and will insist that she have a Magicband and Fastpass

Your daughter will still get a Magic Band even though she is under 3. She doesn't have to wear it if she hates it but she won't feel left out either. She can pretend to scan it at the FP+. I would assume that it somehow indicates that she is "under 3" but it's not necessary to provide "proof."

I can't imagine a CM would insist on having a magicband or ticket. We were there with DD when she was 2 yrs 10 mos and she is VERY tall for her age. We got asked a couple times if she was under 3 but when we said yes it was never questioned.
